Why can I still access banned users skype email etc???

The user was banned from Virtual Teen Forums, not Skype or whatever email server they use.
VT has no relation to those sites, and thus can't control them being active there, however it surprises me that these links aren't removed from their profile upon their banning from VT.
I'm not sure if the links to external sites will even go through, but I know for a fact that PM-ing the user is still possible, though mainly pointless because the user can't access their VT inbox anyway.

That surprises me. I know I would at least try to remove those links from their profile upon banning. But then again, my forum is a cheap forum. VT, however, is not. I'm almost positive that the admins have the ability to remove those links. But I could be wrong.

Yeah, admins can remove any of those from a banned users' profile. If someone is banned for a very serious matter they're contact information will be removed, but for the most part there's no reason.

As a general rule, you probably shouldn't be in contact with any member who's been banned.

I agree with Steven here, the user was banned for a real reason, so it probably isn't the best idea to go reaching out to them. It may have been a bunch of little things, or one serious thing that got them banned, but either way, you don't want to find out!

yeah makes sense, theres really no background story for me its just that when i was going through the forum i saw this one banned user with skype, aim, yahoo, msn so it hit me that some banned users can still display contact information

While they still have it there, they can't see anyone else's, so I don't think it's a big deal. As Steven said, you shouldn't really go out and contact a banned user offsite, however it's really not worth Mike's and my time to go and remove the info for every banned user, that's just not practical, especially given the number of banned users.
