It appears GTA IV isn't working

so, the other day i got GTA 4, and patched it a bit, now that I've patched it with Xliveless and installed a missing DLL It will launch with a black window for a moment, which closes out shortly after opening.

I've also tried reinstalling and repatching several times, it doesn't appear to fix the issue.

I guess you have the PC version, in which case I'm afraid to say there's not much to do, as that one is plagued with bugs, crashes and other issues. I strongly recommend you get the game on either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, as it doesn't cost much nowadays and those are free of any technical problems. The game is a masterpiece and in my opinion, the second greatest video game ever made just behind its successor, Grand Theft Auto V. I hope for your sake that you get to enjoy it! :D
