Hey....
So, im 15 and have to go to the doctor soon. Apparently as part of the regular "exam" i need to have a rectal exam:eek:??????? This is really really scary, and I obv don't like the idea of someone doing stuff in that area.....
So I guess my questions are..
Has anyone had one of these before?
What happened?
Did it hurt??
What position were you in for it??????

Allison, I guess i'm wondering why you've got to have one at 15? I'd think that was kinda unusual. Like was there something specific that cause the need for the doctor to do one like an injury or something?

I thought that kind of thing was done when you get older.

Hum, well tbh I've never had a rectal exam as part of my annual exam or gyno? But I wouldn't worry too much. I (and a lot of girls here) um play with our bums. Having something in your bum isn't that big of a deal. Certainly not nearly as big a deal as most make it out to be.
I'm sure it's gonna be super clinical like a gyno and wont like feel great or anything but it shouldn't be horrible. Just something you'll want to get over with. I mean that's how I feel when I get a gyno.

I had an Colonoscopy and it was with anesthesia ... but if it a MUST that you pass it, ask your doctor before going what you can expect...

I don't think a rectal is that common under 18. They're not unheard of, but I don't think most girls get them. Unless you're sexually active, you really don't need to see a gyno until you're around 20. A visual/manual exam of your genitals by your GP or pediatrician is about all that you really need.
