View Full Version : How long does it take to build muscle?

So in gym class i started lifting and working out. I know building muscle depends on the person and how much you work out but i want to know about how long building muscle may take. I have been working out mon-fri for about 40 mins each day. I dont overdo it. I have been doing stuff like bench pressing, pull-ups, some other stuff i dont know what it is called.

My body is naturally built and for someone who has never really worked out, it looks like im pretty toned. I am about 5'4 and weigh about 125 pounds. I am pretty short but i look sort of muscular. How long can it take at this rate to build up some muscle or get toned? How long can it take to start getting abs too? I know you usually have to burn the fat off abs but it seems that i dont really have fat there cause i sometimes can see a small outline of abs.

Not sure how accurate this is but apparently you only need to do up to 5 minutes a day of very high intensity work out to seen improve within months.

After skimming the article it says "health benefits" not sure if muscle gain applys.

I dont do high intesity workouts like that would be describing. I dont really want to go off of that article.

The human body's protein synthesis makes it only possible to gain 250grams of lean muscle a week. And that is on a high protein diet . Don't expect to make much gains eating 2 eggs a day, it takes alot of time and dedication.
I would recommend you start off with Jason blaha ice cream fitness 5x5 (I'm sure you can use google.)
If you need help with diet reply to this thread. And eating broccoli rice and chicken breast is the most bland and boring way to eat.

You need to wait months for your body to fully adapt to your training in order to gain muscle mass.
