View Full Version : Confused about bra size!

Well currently my bras are a size 32a, but in the last two months or so they've been way too tight. Not so much around the actual chest but the ribcage. I think I'm going to get a chance to get some new ones this week so I've been using online calculators and they're all giving different results!
My sizing:
29.5 inches right below
34 inches on the fullest part
32.5 inches over the top
Different calculators have given me these sizes: 34a, 32b, 34b, 32c, and even 30d. They're not even close together. I find it hard to believe I went from an A cup to a D cup in 9 months (when I got my 32a bras, also my first real bras after training bras). Can someone please give me a size or something? Thank you!!

Actually it does make some sense. I had been wearing a 32a bra but it wasn't fitting me properly so I switched to a 28b and it fits much better. The rule is if you go down a band size you go up a cup size, because cup sizes can differ according to band width. My advice is to try on all the sizes you mentioned. Always go by the band size before the cup size, that's where most of the support should be. You should only be able to fit a few fingers between the band and your skin for it to fit properly.
32a to 30 d does seem a bit extreme. I know less than in two months I went up a cup size (from being completely flat), and you're going down a band size so it's possible.
My advice is to start by going 32a -> 30b and go from there. Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much! I'll keep this in mind.

No problem :) Just keep trying different sizes until you find the right one.

Go to a proper lingerie store and get yourself fitted. The band size on your bra will be the same from one brand to another, but the cup sizes can vary, so it's good to get someone to show you a variety of bras that will suit you.
A rough rule though, is for each inch difference between the measurement under your boobs and across them, go up one cup size, so 1" = A cup, 2" = B cup, 3" = C cup, etc.
That doesn't take the shape of your boobs into account though, only the size, so that's why you should get an expert opinion if you're unsure yourself.

go to Victoria's or some other women's store and get fitted for a bra, they usually don't charge for it and it only takes about 15 to 20 minutes and all bra brands don't measure the same as oher's.
