I think if someone posts twice in a row, that it should automatically merge their posts. It could be less work for the admins and it shouldn't take that long to implement.

I agree, you would be hard pressed to find a forum that doesn't already have this!! and yeah easy to do, simple add on if not already an option on the Admin CP, if they can't I'm more than willing to install it myself it's so simple! but doubt I'll be allowed:P

Been suggested before, but shot down. Search for similar threads

It would be problematic for those who wish to bump their threads. Plus us merging them isn't exactly difficult.

Oh, I forgot about bumping threads. I understand now. :D

On my forum there is a auto merge that merges posts that are posted by the same user within a set time, which is 1 hour.

So it is still possible to bump threads

Not like you guys particularly LIKE doing that all the time though.

It's not that we don't like it, it's that we'd expect you to know that you're doing it after about 6 times. But, some of you don't. :P

this is the only way it'd work, although in a sense I do wonder if it's best to confront the issue (and have mods continue merging) than try and sweep it under the carpet so it can sort itself out, the kind of people that don't understand you can't double post after the first 3 times are going to be the kind of people that post in HQ asking why their posts have been automatically merged and nobody told them :P
