Is the death penalty good for deterring drug trafficking and possession? I'm just curious, as I saw a sign in Thailand saying that drug trafficking is punishable by death. Is the death penalty necessary to deter drug trafficking?

I don't think the should be a death penalty.
I think that the death penalty should only be considered in one of the high school massacres. Not for carrying a bit of pot or E.

I don't think that a choice like taking or buying drugs should be an executable offence... I don't really agree with legalising hard drugs such as heroin but even then jail or death is never the answer. I don't agree with the death penalty at all actually!

I think the only drug-related crime that deserves execution is if you are a leader of a drug cartel and have ruined tons of people's life's.

Many countries have death penalties for trafficking. Especially countries that are ''transit hubs'' and don't want to be. I don't know the data but I somehow doubt it is much more effective than jail time.

I agree with you that drug addicts aren't bad people. But in Singapore they hang people who are caught smuggling drugs in and out of the country. The smugglers know the penalty for getting caught so if they are stupid enough to try it then then deserve the punishment!
