View Full Version : Handling sports with puberty?

So this may seem like a stupid question or problem but wanted to run it by a few people to get some insight. Anyway, I am 14 years old and an avid sports nut. Love playing any kind of sport (soccer, tennis, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hockey, and love to run). So ever since I started puberty I have had problems with securing the goods. I wanted to check with folks to see how they deal with this issue. I have seemed to have tried everything and nothing seems to secure them. Also, when will my manhood stop growing? My junk is hindering my performance and enjoyment of sports so I was wondering how much longer it will grow. I know that this puberty process takes getting use to but I am having a hard time adjusting. Every one else seems to have stopped.

If I were you, I'd try wearing tight underwear like briefs or boxer briefs. Oh, and yo will stop growing there anywhere from age 18-24.

ok, so i am also an althete, wrestling, and easiest way is to just use compression shorts/underwear. those will secure it fine. and it will stop, like Purple_Floyd said, between 18-24, usually.

Might depend on the sport - but do not let this stop you doing sports. I guess most guys will experience this.

If you stuff a bit of toilet paper around it in tight boxers it creates padding and it stops it moving

Thanks guys!! I thought I was out of options when I tried briefs, boxer briefs, and jock straps (for some sports). I will get a pair of compression shorts. Thanks for the help, I was embarrassed enough when I asked my coach and he recommended the jock strap and when that didn't work I was not sure who to ask. It would have been very very awkward to say to my Mom that my balls and dick have gotten too big for me to play sports in what I have to work with. This is a good tool. My Dad pasted away 4 years ago so needed some unbiased male advice.

Hey,

My vote goes for compression shorts - I play hockey, rugby and lacrosse and they hold everything in place super securely

I can completely relate to what you mean, sports can really be uncomfortable wen your junk is all over the place. You should try wearing tight underwear like tight boxer briefs or just briefs, they seem to help me. Another thing you could try that i haven't yet, is a jockstrap, but they don't really seem to appeal to me.

I suggest a jockstrap or boxer briefs. Compression shorts also do the job really well. Out of those, I personally go with the jockstrap normally, but depending on the sports you play another may work better for you.

i basically had the same exact problem as yourself, i love sports and found myself being stopped from doing sports cause of my junk getting in the way! lol but the only way would be boxer briefs or possibly compression shorts/underarmour clothing. i still have the problem today.. youll probably always have this problem, but youll find ways to adjust and what not :)

briefs or a jock are really nice. I have to have some kind of support when I play basketball or go running. Wearing a jock is actually my preference now.

I have always worn something tight. With baseball, football, and soccer I usually wear a jockstrap and cup under my compression shorts which keeps things in place and the cup keeps any sort of outline of your dick showing. As for wrestling singlets, I usually just wear a jockstrap. A cup would look stupid and briefs are to bulky. And with singlets, there is no way to hide even a semi boner. Coaches are usually aware of these and will just throw a team mate in until it goes down. But no matter what you wear, guys in athletics have been dealing with this for centuries so the more you worry the worse it will be. Just act normal and pretend its not there.

Don't worry mate. Nobody will laugh at you or try to notice you because it is most probably you that is over-conscious about it. Just understand that everyone goes through puberty and that's there's nothing you can really do but stay natural - because that's the only way to avoid attention from people of you going puberty and they will not mention it.

I don't know exactly your situation, cause this gay don't play any sports never have never will, but I would suggest a jock strap or compression shorts. But if I were you I would go for the jock strap just because it's sexy (depending on which brand and style) and it enhances your butt (and coming from a gay guy who ONLY hangs out with girls, we like round, plump butts)
