If I had a camera I'd so rule this thread. My computer desk is built into my closet haha. I love it, I close the doors and the tv, computer, dvd player, etc. disappears except for a random swivel chair that gets stuck in the middle of the room.

I managed to build my custom pc without any help from manuals just advice on parts....

actually I tell a lie...I had to look at the motherboard to figure out how the hell you pull the sink cool off (was almost like a combination lock had to lift things and push things down all at the same time)

I don`t exactly have a desk for my laptop Victor, so I keep him on my bed when I`m using him, and on the floor when he is shut down. And yes, the red thing with the blue guy sitting on it is a saddle on a saddle rack. :P And I WAS watching Mythbusters when I took these, so that is Adam on my TV.

Nice, except those speakers aren't the greatest. The high end ones rule, though. I've got the best 2.1 set; I imagine the best 5.1 sounds maybe as good for music, probably better for movies. I'm just not into surround, though. What am I whining about, you have such insanely cool shit otherwise XD

As you can see, its my speakers to the left, and my T-amp at the bottom along with 2 WD passports(red[150GB{iTunes backup}] and black[250GB{Back-up of previous Mac that my dad broke an dam too lazy to load onto this Mac}]). Then you can see my Hp printer with a box on-top of it and my G-Shock watch(solar powered and satellite), and Indiana Jones hat in front of it hanging on a mic stand. Then in the center you can see liquidized pudding and old chocolate milk(yumm), sorry about that:P on top of my laptop elevator with trash scattered all over it.

I clean my desktop out every so often. It's not too bad usually because the airflow's pretty good. There are a few dead spots, though.

My case is badly designed, for a start it only has one 80mm intake at the front, and the hard drives sit in front of that, then it sucks in air from th bottom of the case at the front through a vent, but that gets blocked because I have the computer on the floor! So I cut a few blocks of wood to raise it about half an inch to let some air in!

I'll post mine sometime. The blue cathodes I installed light the vents pretty well.

3.2GHz intel xeon 8 core

32GB ram

HDD bay 1 1TB

HDD bay 2 300GB backup disk

HDD bay 3 1TB

nVidia Quadro FX 5600

Opposite side of room has a 160' projector screen with 1 pair of logitech z-5500's

2 20' flat panel displays

All valued at a whopping $28,000.

Doubtful you'd ever use even a fourth of that RAM, much of any of those processors.

Most, if not all of those components are largely overpriced.

I built a computer with 1 Q6700 Quad and 8GB of RAM and it'll do pretty much anything you'd ever want to throw at it quite well. About the only thing it doesn't is some really high end games, because I didn't go with a very high end graphics card, because I don't game almost at all, so the need didn't exist.

I'm assuming since it's a Mac, and the specs on it, you didn't get it for gaming... :P

But, even with Video editing, and that type of stuff, those specs are still way overboard, except maybe the storage.

Agreed. Last time I saw something with the similar specs was at the media advertiment studio in my Campus's facilities. I like the room though.... Clean :P

These monitors are hooked up to the old mac mini and the macpro is hooked up to the projector screen at the opposite side of the room which has leopard, leopard runs really slow and laggy on the old mac mini with a whopping 512MB of ram.
Reason for large amount of ram: I installed virtual pc to play pc games so I can run crysis at full specs and play many other games with the best viewing experience and no lag. It is also being used as a recording studio to record music and enhance it while making HD quality images. That poster is a canvas with a mac logo printed on it.

I use pro tools with a digi design desk and a lot of video editing software and I get away with 10 gb RAM, I use about 9.1 gb of it.

Reason for large amount of ram: I installed virtual pc to play pc games so I can run crysis at full specs and play many other games with the best viewing experience and no lag. It is also being used as a recording studio to record music and enhance it while making HD quality images. That poster is a canvas with a mac logo printed on it.

Virtual PC is NOT going to allow you to play games, period. Unless it's Solitaire or Minesweeper. It's just not going to.

Absolutely 0.0000000000% chance of playing Crysis in Virtual PC, even on Lowest settings.

Virtual PC is not made to function that way. Neither are any other Virtualization programs, such as VirtualBox or VMWare.

The only way you might play games besides Solitaire or Minesweeper on that hardware is with something like Boot camp or something.

Also, I'm almost postive that video card is basically a GeForce 8800 Ultra, with a few small modifications, and a little extra RAM. Hardly worth the price difference as far as I'm concerned.

3000$ for a video card for what you claim to be doing makes absolutely no sense.

Who paid for it? I'm assuming whoever did has plenty of money to randomly squander on things. Seems like it would make more sense to put that towards something else.

But, maybe that's just me...

Also, the GeForce 9800GX2, I'm fairly positive, would kick the crap out of that card, and It's got a comparable amount of RAM.

Your card is also meant more for CAD Applications. I'd think you'd need an image with like 5547839574x54738957439 Resolution that was the best quality ever seen in the world to use that much RAM at once.

Also, I'm wondering, what type of Camera do you have? And, is that a recent picture of your laptop? Looks like a fairly new computer.

my camera is broken but we found this guy that was selling a 42 inch plasma screen that he said was broken for 100 dollars. after he told me what was wrong, i knew that it only needed to be recharged. but i decided not to tell him so thats what i have for a monitor. plus i have another 42 inch for games. i kinda wanna trade off the one i have for the computer and get separate monitors like others have
