I really think there should be an official welcoming committee here on VT, where a group of users can help the newer users out with the features of the site and be there to direct them if they have questions. I really feel it would take a load off of some of the administrators, and all the committee members would need would just need a little blurb on the profile that says they are on the welcoming committee. I know several high schools have them, so why not have one here on VT?

I'm not really sure what the point of this would be. All users who join VT get a welcome PM, in which it's pretty easy for them to get any immediate questions answered. It also says in the email what to do if they have a question. The biggest issue with this is the 100 posts to PM non staff members - we're not looking to make a new staff group so that they can PM these people with any questions they might have, that a non staff member might not even know the answer to. I see where you're coming from, but it's not that much of a burden on us when people ask us questions, it's why we're here.

I wish I had that when I came here.

I agree - it is quite an easy forum to use and an admin quicly answered a question I had.
