Hey... New kid here...
Ive only just began to be able to roll my foreskin back recently and ass you`d expect there`s smegma... It comes and goes and because no one thought to tell me I`m meant to wash down there until very recently, Im slightly nooby -.-
So ive been able to pull the foreskin back and put it in water, thats fine, but if i use running water or rub the head directly with anything then it hurts... So i figured, my mum has "ph balanced for intimate areas" shower gel... So put some of that on and rubbed it around underwater, thats fine but now (about 30 minutes later I keep getting a burning sensation about evety 10 minutes that goes away after about 10 seconds...
Its not the worst at all, but its annoying...
So my question is, how long/how do i make it stop hurting if I touch the head?
And how can you clean the head while its sensitive without pain? (Or too much)
And yes I have a gf and i dont really want smegma down there...........

Umm just keep rolling it back and wash it there, I dont know much about that ph balance gel maybe ur sensitive to it? Also.....maybe the ph balance is not for application but instead a solution to pour into water, read the directions on the back of the bottle

Be patient! Keep pulling back and clean. Try different methods to clean (as you did already) and pick the one which is best for you.
I can fully retract since some 1 1/2 years now and still remember the same issues. Now I am perfectly fine and can clean without any pain or discomfort.
All the best!

Okay thanks :) I will do... I'm guessing persistence is key?

Spot on answer there Leon. Same here. Smegma will wash off with water only. I don't use soap.

Yeah, it probably just needs to be broken in. Make sure it's thoroughly rinsed and gently pat it dry with a soft towel with the skin pulled back, before rolling the skin forward.

It definitely is. Be gentle and don't overdo it.
Best way for me to clean then was in the bathtub. I pulled back just before the point of discomfort and had the warm water do its job. Shortly after that contact with running water was not uncomfortable anymore. With time there was no harm if I used a washcloth even.

I'd advise not using your mum's stuff. The whole pH balance is to help with avoiding vaginal infections in women. A woman's vagina has a certain level of pH and naturally healthy bacteria but if the pH goes out of whack, bad bacteria grows and... yeah, not fun. Natural but it sucks. It's part of the vaginal self-cleaning process and all that jazz. Men don't have the same issues so that might be why it had an adverse reaction with you. It's meant for "intimate areas" but not really of the male kind. I'm not 100% sure, of course, because I'm not exactly an expert in everyday penis care but that might explain why you got that burning sensation.

Ahh well, I guess I learnt the hard way... one thing that I found out was that after having a rather long session of selfishness... if you know what i mean.. occasionally I would see little deposits of smegma in the precum.. after mopping these up and finishing my business I checked out of curiosity and I'm now completely clear... so there's one painless way of getting rid of it :)
