I was chatting with a girl in a thread saying I was gay and she saying she was a lesbian and I thought, hey wait a minute. She's a lesbian, but what am I? A gay guy? that's all? No other/special name? Who's idea was that?! It's just not fair I tell you. What would be a good name for gay guys? I kinda like swashbuckler myself. I don't think it's really in use much these days and should be up for grabs.

Discuss.

This made me laugh.

I dunno, guess it's not exactly needed. And for most people that role's been filled with a certain word (you know which one) and we don't exactly agree with that.

So yeah, it just never happened.

I hate the word Lesbian anyway. I'd rather it was all gay gay gay or something. If I refer to myself, it's always, I'm gay. Saying I'm a lesbian only ever happens on rare occasions.

I kinda see where you are coming from. but I've not heard a girl or woman called gay.
they always (well around people I know) been called Lesbians.
there have been many names given to us gay guys. Sadly none of them have been very nice.

We get the horrible ones too, we do have dyke and all that. I agree that gay guys get it worse but come on.

I like swashbuckler lol. When you talk about your sexuality just be like, "Yeah I'm a swashbuckler, got a problem with that?"
I say gay or lesbian.. I feel like lesbian is a more feminine term than gay, and usually use lesbian.

This made me laugh.

Well, that was the idea mainly, but it did actually have me wondering a little.

Why yes I do know which one, two actually, I've heard them mumbled about me many times. Always followed by "little" "that little F" and "that little Q". And I'm not even out!

I know what you girls get called and like what they call us guys its not very nice. There is plenty of not so nice things I can call people but, I don't because its mean and disrespectful. I'm not perfect but, I do try my best to treat all people the way I want to be treated.

Can't you just say "a gay" for example:

Over by the McDonalds are two gays.

That gay is the nicest person I know.

That would just mean every sexuality needs a 'name' (which 'gay' is, by the way). Like homosexuals get gay and lesbian. I'm bisexual and there's no other popular term for it. It's not a big deal though 'cause honestly it sums it up.

I prefer 'bisexual' over 'whore' anyway. (I've heard that a few times.)

I wouldn't mind being called a rainbow guy XD

that would be at least 20% cooler than "gay," 1. RAINBOW is best color
2. RAINBOW Dash is second best pony.

but, we really don't need one. I honestly think it would be easier to stick to the same term for homosexuality in both sexes really.

I kinda wish there was cause it seems to me like two words just encourages the mindless gay bashing words. But then when i hear 'gay' i think of guys and lesbian for females. It seems like that's the standard now.

Well, if i recall, Spartan Warriors were said to have had legions made up of gay men in relationships. It's said that they were very formidable, something about fighting side by side with your lover.

In Portuguese, people very rarely use the word "gay" when they are refering to a women. If a girl wants to say she is homosexual, she says "I'm lesbian.", and in case of guys, they say "I'm gay."

I'm gay. I really hate the word lesbian. I don't know, I've recently started associating "lesbian" more with straight male fantasies than real-live lesbians. Like lesbian porn, AKA straight girls fucking each other with dildos. Actual lesbian porn is seemingly nonexistent. You'd think with the amount of gay man porn there'd be a market for lesbian porn aimed at lesbians but apparently not.

Anyway, this is more a personal definition for me. Like how I refrain from calling myself an actress and prefer actor, except that one's more self-respect than anything. I can't for the life of me remember the woman who inspired that decision.

I call everyone gays and I'm not ashamed.
