So there's this really amazing girl in my class, I really like her, but the thing that's keeping me from making any move is my teeth (and me not having a car). I currently have braces, and I've had them for 5 years almost, my teeth still show no improvement. My ortho is horrible, but we can't afford to get a new one so I'm stuck with this current one. My teeth have honestly held me back from so much. I'm not confident enough to make a move with anything, I've never asked a girl out to a single dance and I'm a senior. So, I guess I'm kinda asking for advice?
Here's a small rant:
I can't believe how sucky my ortho is. I've had braces for almslt 5 years yet nothing to show for it, my ortho has caused me my whole HS and my self esteem, yet they seem to not care. Whenever I go in, we rarely do anything, they don't change or tighten the wire, let alone do anything productive. I fucking hate it but I'm stuck cause we can't afford anything else. I really wish they stepped in my shoes and I wish they had a sucky HS experience.

If a girl rejects you for the sole reason of you having braces then she's probably very looks oriented and not worth your time. You have to make due with what you got, you have held yourself back by not even making an attempt to make a move because you believe no one will tolerate your teeth. I have braces as well and I get that they can make you self conscious but, and this is speaking from personal experience, it's very possible to get a girl when you have braces. It's only a death sentence if you allow it to be.

Pretty much this, i had braces myself, and one girl in my class has too, she looks so cute with them. Dont make a big deal of them and they wont be.

I had braces for close to 2 years and it never stopped me doing anything like asking a girl out, I liked my braces and I do actually miss my braces. They don't hold you back, sure they're not the best things in the world and if your ortho is shit, you need to complain about it. They aren't doing the correct job if you teeth are showing no signs of improvement. Ignore the fact you have braces and if you like this girl, the braces are only a small part of you. Confidence is key to anything and if you don't have any, you aren't really going to get anywhere in life. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and just go for it. Ask, you never get anywhere sitting on the side and doing nothing.
