First of all my apologies if this is in the wrong place, I know there is a self harm forum but I put it here just in case
My girlfriend told me that she self harms the other day and I am the worlds worst advice giver so I was wondering if you guys could give me some help.
Some more information is that we have known each other for 10 year, we became good friends 2 years ago and been dating for 2 weeks.

You'll find here some ways to stop self harming (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=190748). Read them and tell her.
Besides that you can listen to her, whenever she feels like shit talk with her, hear what is troubling her. Even if you dont give good advices, like me, listen also helps, You can also keep her distracted, when she wants to self harm.

I agree with mynick... Although self harming can be stopped, dont condemn her for it, hold her and tell her it will all be okay, if she cries then cry with her :)

Just be there. Sometimes that's all people need, someone to be there and to listen to them. It's going to be hard, self harming in relationships is always a hard thing. Not only for her, but for you too. You could always ask her what she would like and what make her feel comfortable because after all, being in a relationship does require some communication and I'm sure she wouldn't mind telling you what she needs. Remember, if you do have questions for her, you're bound to, you can ask her providing they're not judgemental or anything. It's not the easiest thing to cope with, you need to stay strong just as much as she does. Be there and look after yourself also.
