As stated in the title, I personally belive it does. Or to tone down the harshness of it I'll say replace oneself.
Anyways, thoughts?

Well, I guess in my opinion it's kind of like a drug, it gets rid of the pain inside for a bit and gets your mind on a pain that hurts your body rather than heart.
I must say getting through depression is much harder if not cutting is involved, so the person has to be strong and have to put up with the stages, and in the end accepting whatever scars that were left inside, and couldn't be healed with time :(
I don't think anything destroys a person's life per say, since there is always a way to change it and piece it together, though it takes time.

I don't think you are going to find many differing viewpoints on this topic - it's not really a debate. Not only that, this forum isn't really for discussing possibly triggering issues.
Clarification - a self harm topic doesn't really help anyone to be debated. In fact, this is pretty much a situation where there will be upset people no matter how it turns out. We don't need someone, in a debate thread...telling others about how they believe self harm "is stupid" or members giving specific examples (possibly leading to a situation of one-upping).
Since this is already set up as a debate - I can not move it to another section...for the same reasons as said above. It would be completely counterproductive in the help sections of this forum.
