So ever since I was younger, I was never really into extracurricular clubs or anything at school. However now I'm a senior in high school, and I've heard a lot about how extracurricular activities REALLY help you get into college and jobs, so I decided, why not I'll go to one after school. Basically, even though it was cool I stuck out like a sore thumb, everyone was in the "honors/gifted/preppy" kinda area and it was just really awkward, especially since one of the club leaders was a girl I tried talking to back in 10th grade.

Afterwards I realized I didn't have a ride home for another half hour, so I just had to walk around the outside of the school doing nothing while everyone else drove home (I still haven't gotten my license yet, but I will be soon thankfully) and well, I just felt really childish and below everyone else. I've had this feeling all through high school and I just get really intimidated whenever I meet people my age (and especially younger) that are clearly more successful than me socially. I'm not even usually one to care about this kind of stuff, but it just feels awkward. Anyone else ever had an experience like this?

I've always been the 'different, weird' one. People don't talk to me, or they'll glance at me and turn to talk to the 'cool' kids. Besides being awkward it's plain upsetting. May I ask what the extracurricular was? It's possible that just wasn't the right group for you. Even if people continue to not really accept you, just continue forward, I'm sure you'll excel at it. Senior year is your last year and I've heard it all gets a lot better in college.

Yes

I've never been in any club or activity because I didn't have any interest in any of them.

Most of the kids my age when I was a senior could also drive, though I didn't care that I had to ride the bus or my mom's car to school.

It's renaissance club, basically they help organize stuff like school events and are usually the ones selling lanyards and shirts during those events. It does interest me to a point, but I just feel really out of place, you know?

Thanks for the words guys :D

I've been in band but that's it. THAT IS IT! I'm usually an outcast, if I'm being talked to, it's one of my few friends I do have, so I know the way you feel @O.P.

Usually it's walking in on someone getting dressed. I say whoops I'm sorry, close the door and that's all there is to it.
