I don't really know much about these programs. I know least about AVID (I actually haven't heard about it until a couple days ago). I've always planned on doing Pre-IB (9th-10th grade) and IB (11th-12th) for my High School years. But then again, I've heard that colleges look at AP and IB the same way. Is this true or not? I've heard mixed things about this.

I know I can get in the Pre-IB program. I've had straight As (not that that means much in my school, though) and am in the Gifted program.

I also don't really know what college I want to go to. I'll really go anywhere where I can get a scholarship. I live in Florida, but I'm not going to any of the colleges here. I'm thinking of University of Michigan or University of Texas. My goal is math. I'm not really sure what I want to do, but I want to major in math.

I don't know if anything I've said makes any sense or gives any sort of help. My main question is what's the difference between AP, AVID, and IB?

Thank you!

IB is usually meant for international students, and certain colleges like IB more than others, if you live in the US and are planning to go to college there then maybe as a national student IB won't count for much, it depends on the college. Even though I am personally going to take full-IB or some IB classes next year since I am most definitely not gonna study in the place where I live. I do not know what AVID is, but the difference between AP and IB is that AP is just advanced while IB is aimed for international people and explores more.

I had AVID. it supposed to be a college prep class. helps you with scholarships and organization. it was a huge mistake. maybe I just had a bad experience with my teacher but it was horrible. she kicked me out of class because I wanted to study for finals instead of playing games.
