Hi! Well, I've been in highschool for 4 long years and this is my last one. I had a very bad year and I'm kinda scared of the next one (start in two weeks) but that's not the problem, the problem is that I don't know what to do when I get out (I'll graduate very young: 16 years old) because I don't know what I really really want. Now, what do you think about what I really really want? This are the options:

I want a fast food franchise but that requires lots of money

I could work with my dad in his auto parts store (I would get well paid but idk if I want to work there)

And the last one, which I think is what I really really want but people will judge me, including my family: I want to be a policeman. Its like, perfect. I wouldn't be stuck in an office and I'll have a lot of work since I live in one of the most dangerous city in the world. I know it sounds dumb and maybe I'll change next year...but id really like to work on that. Or I could work in the 911 emergency (171 Emergency in Venezuela)

So, do you think is this dumb? What should I do?

Look at that policeman in my city! Its a police in a segway! That's so cool

I'll keep this message in english so others can understand. I seriously think that you shouldn't be a policeman in Venezuela my fellow compatriot, the insecurity will give you a very risky and possibly very short life. Realistically, I think your best bet is to move out of Venezuela, like all my friends are family are doing. To Colombia or Chile for example where business opportunities are better and universities are superior (if you are planning on going to university), because if you open a franchise the government will probably expropriate it.

It is good to have ambition for sure - so you can look at what the all the jobs need for recruits and then try and build a good set of school or college qualifications and core traits.

Then see how it goes.

You do whatever feels right for you. If you want to be in the police force then go right ahead. If you want to start your own food franchise then find a way to get the money. The only person capable of stopping you from achieving your dreams is yourself (omg that sounds corny, still, it's very true).

If you go to study a year in Canada maybe you might like it there and you might as well stay. There are more jobs with better pay in most countries compared to Venezuela.

Police is a good profession, as well as 911 communications. My plan is as follows: Full Time Sheriff officer (im a member of a police-fire explorer post, so i already have a position waiting for me in the sheriff dept when i turn 21). Volunteer Firefighter/EMT b/EMT iv tech, and part time 911 communications. Police is great because you get to help others, and make them feel safe.

We're talking about police service in Venezuela, the place where prisoners have AK-47s inside the prisons.
