Just answered my own question by reading the rules more thoroughly. So I'll ask an actual question now. What could cause a girls period to be really irregular? As in sometimes it happens in a month and sometimes it doesn't. Or sometimes it lasts 4 days but happens twice in one month. This is regarding my little sister, she's the one that's worried. She is 14. I told her it may even out over time but it does seem strangely irregular.

There are a lot of things that can cause irregular periods. So many that it would probably be irresponsible to attempt to answer the question in any way other than telling her to see a doctor and get a complete medical workup done.

There is a number of reasons that ones period may be irregular. Is she within the first 2 years of having her first period? The first two years of having a period are often irregular and usually it works itself put and becomes regular. On the other hand, some women have an irregular cycle their whole life. There are ways to bring the regularity back by seeing a physician such as birth control or estrogen that I know of. I'm sure everything is fine and dandy, but if things persist, are extremely heavy or painful I would recommend that your guardian take your sister to see your family doctor.
