In a sensational and hard-fought match, Slovenia defeated reigning champions Spain yesterday 78:69 in their second game of the Eurobasket tournament. Slovenia trailed for most of the game until the tides turned in the third quarter. The score remained close until the very end. The game saw numerous fouls, and at one point Slovenian player Gašper Vidmar even had a tooth knocked out.
After the match, player Zoran Dragic said the team planned to play hard from the beginning. Slovenia is off tonight but will play Georgia on Saturday in Celje.
Today's matches will include two pairings of former Yugoslav countries. Serbia take on Macedonia and Bosnia plays Montenegro. Both matches are in Jesenice. In other matches: Baltic countries Lithuania and Latvia will play each other, Germany will play Ukraine, the UK takes on Belgium, and France plays Israel.
The match between Bosnia and Montengro will be broadcast on RTV channel 2.
