Hey guys, I'm unable to log onto the chatroom, I get the error "Exit (-1)" when I try to load the chat. I run windows 8 but this also occours on my sister's laptop which runs windows 7

Could someone please specify the issue so I can google for a solution, or better yet provide me with a fix to this problem?

Try updating Java. That will likely fix it if it isn't up to date.

I don't think that would be the issue, I just installed java with windows 8 last night.

before typing this I checked with the java version verifier, the verification specifies that I have the latest version.

EDIT: This is the error window I get trying to load the chatroom.

This is the same error I get on my sister's laptop, which is running windows 7

I'll try reinstalling though.

It's likely an issue with your firewall settings. I'd start there and see where that takes you.

Or actually maybe your java settings. (windows key and then search for java under settings) and check out your security and settings and such.

It seems that java doesnt trust this website. Check your java settings.

I've checked the java settings, they seem to keep resetting on me, perhaps it is the windows firewall, i'll check there. if not maybe AVG will fix it when I install it (The internet is actually permitting today so I can now install avg)

EDIT:

I don't seem to see any settings that regard to java, any help here?

I run windows 8 as well, and when I go to that home screen thingy with all the apps, if I search under settings, it (for me) says (Java - 32 bit).

I'd recommend trying another browser also, otherwise, I'm not sure what to say besides comparing your java settings with someone else. It'd likely be a firewall thing if not java settings.

no I meant in the firewall settings, my java settings seem to reset alot on me, and did you say 32-bit? I think thats what I installed last time and that seemed to correct alot of my issues. maybe I need both 32-bit and 64-bit.

Yeah, that's weird because I'm pretty sure everything else I have is 64. here (http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)'s where I got my 32 from. Give that a try; you might need to uninstall the 64 to get the 32.

last time they both installed just fine side-by side. But I'll keep that in mind.

that bar you have on the right side of your sreen that shows up when you swipe your cursor acrossed it's side of the screen is called the charm bar, the search thingy is called the search charm. it also works with other windows 8 apps. It's quite handy actually.

EDIT: Okay tried it, that didn't correct the issue.
