I had the big talk about sex and girls getting pregnant from my dad which was kind of awkward, but anyways, we were talking about condoms and what ones are the best or does it matter? do they all feel the same?

The great majority are not made for teens. They are too large. I believe that this might be the cause of so many teen pregnancies.

Should a guy try different condoms on before he really needs to use one?

Buy multiple brands and wear the one that fits you best

Well thin condoms give you the closest feeling to not wearing one, thick ones are safer but no brand is safer than any other so you just have to go with which ever ones you want, you need to try them out though, get some, see what it feels like, check it fits and if you need to change something you have plenty of time to change it!

As i said in another thread:
To find you size, go here ⇉ http://www.condom-sizes.org/condom-size-chart/condom-size-chart
They have Size in inches and width HOWEVER, you are only 15 , so your penis will probably grow and the size that fits you now may become tight.
Whatever you do, do not use animal skin condoms or anything other than latex, UNLESS you are allergic, which you would probably know at this point in your life. Anyway, dont use animal skin because they break easily and you can still get a girl pregnant because there are pores in them. Also, as most said, condoms are no made for teens, so you should wait a bit maybe?
Hope this helped

Doesn't really matter which ones you get as long as you get ones that fit

Some have special lubrication or some are especially thin.
When it comes to condoms, it'd be best not to be cheap. So get a good, reputable brand.

Mike pretty much hit the important points above. With condoms, penis girth is probably the most important factor as you want the condom to fit snug and fairly tight. If the condom is too long, you can just roll it to the base, but if its too loose it can slip off during sex.
My suggestion is purchase just a basic condom and try it on first. Get used to it and how it feels. It's a lot better to "waste" a condom for j/o than not be prepared in the heat of the moment.

In terms of size condoms are pretty standard, and unless you are abnormally small or unusually big, then the regular condom you see at the store will work for you.
Condoms are like any other product out there in that there are high quality brands and those which are more basic. Trojan brand seems to be on the higher end of the spectrum because they tend to not to rip easily and are pretty comfortable. The free condoms you get at clinics or even schools are pretty easy to break because their material is not as good as used with the major brands. Other brands like Durex do the job, and you cannot go wrong with them. I just prefer to purchase a brand that makes stuff in the USA such as Trojan.
Condoms come with all sorts of styles like ribs, twisted, etc., and they can make a difference depending on the person. You kind of have to experiment with the different kinds of condoms to see which ones that you and your partner will like. It is hard to say that ribbed condoms are better than studded ones versus the twisted ones because it is so subjective.
The most basic thing you have to keep in mind that the best condoms out there are the ones that are pre-lubricated. The unlubricated ones are not very comfortable at all, and I would not recommend them. Of course, if your partner is allergic to lube, then you have no choice to wear the unlubricated condom. Unlubricated condoms feel like wearing a balloon over your dick because it can be rough on the skin.
Just remember that condoms are pretty effective to avoid pregnancy, but they are not 100%. Also, condoms can protect against most STDs, but they cannot protect against all STDs especially the skin-to-skin kind. Remember, condoms only cover your dick and not your pubes and the base of your dick. Also, if condoms are not worn right, then their effectiveness goes down a lot.
It is cool that you're close to your Dad, and I would definitely talk to him honestly about sex and condoms. Especially since your Father has had sex before he is the right person to ask about it and how he and your mum have done birth control.

Might depend on what brands you can get - have a look around the stores some will have a size guide on the box - so that is a start.
But get a pack and try out good to get used to the feeling and putting it on. then you will at least know if that fits good or not.
You do get various makes - some with a lube or spermicidal coating some have a delay lube inside - so it lets you last longer dulling the sensation.

For condoms it's mainly about girth (penis circumference). Go to their website and see if they give advice about what size to get based on your size.
