why dont the mods lock those old threads, make a section for old unwanted threads, you cant post in there then dump them in there?so people cant bump old threads.

Hmm thats an idea but its to stop members bringing up old threads but it may be useful for some people to see the threads but not post. its best asking a mod or posting a question in the suggestions forum :)

Honestly, that's just a ridiculous amount of unnecessary effort. The rule against bumping is in place and it's an easy one to learn, and really it's not that much trouble going through and locking them when people post in them.

The rule is one month since the last post, with the only exceptions really being in Depression, Loss, & Grief.

I usually go by 3-4 weeks, depending on the thread, if its something that's been answered 20 times, then it can be locked, if it still has active discussion then it's ok.

I think the rules for bumped threads is too clear. So there is no need to take that drastic of action other than locking the thread.

I mean I saw your post about a new member's first day on here and you requesting for him to be banned because of it.

So as I said there souldn't be that much of drastic action to be made except for just locking the thread.

Now don't you think that banning someone just because they bumped an old thread is just?

2-3 weeks is generally my rule that I go by.
The only real exceptions are the Diaries and the Psych Ward forums.

Yeah that's me to. I usually wait for a few weeks except for diaries since it's ok there since they aren't that big of a deal.

It's perfectly fine for new people to do it, it is annoying because they don't read the rules. And if a member has been here for a while they might accidentally do it, but in whatever case, unless they ignore requests to stop doing it they can get a PM or even infraction for it sometimes.
