For the past 6 months or so I've been on Zoloft. But lately when it's time for me to take it I think to myself, what's the point? and end up not taking my meds. I guess I should be following my doctors orders and take it daily but sometimes I don't take it for a few days and then when I feel like crap I take more than I should.. I used to have a problem with abusing my prescription medicine and that didn't end well at all so I want to make things right. But how?

Did the doctor specify a reason for you to take that particular medication? Because Zoloft... for various reasons I'd rather not go into detail about, I am very much averse to that stuff.

what do you mean about zoloft? I, um... I attempted suicide and was hospitalized... that's why I'm on it.

How about you give it to someone you can trust so they can hand you the prescribed dose daily. That way it's harder for you to refuse it and how much you take can be monitered by someone else.

Really it's a case of whether you want to get better or not. Sometimes when you've been in a low state for a while you might find it scary being 'better', so by refusing the meds even when you know they're probably going to help you're putting off potentially being happy. You have to work at it and it'll take time, quite a while for the meds to take action but for that to happen they should be taken regularly at the prescribed dose.

Zoloft is one of those medications where if you have to take it, you must take it very consistently. Don't go off and on it, stick with the exact prescription.
