Hello! I'm only 14 but I've been wanting to post on the education forum mainly because, well I'm smart.
I'm going into high school this year as a freshman and I'll be taking Algebra II honors, and I am taking all IB classes (A level above AAP, 2 above honors) I've always LOVED science and last year in 8th grade my science teacher presented me with the outstanding science award for being the most interested. I always asked him questions and wondered things out loud with him. I get a lot of my science knowledge from YouTube from channels like VSauce, minute physics, scishow, etc all the popular ones. But I also enjoy Math quite a bit too! Our geometry class did a 40 hour project at the end of the year and we had to follow directions and make the net plan of the given shapes (not just cubes or prisms) like truncated/cubes, trapezoidal prisms, etc. then we had to put it all together and build THE SHAPE from the net-plan with ACCURATE measurements! It was so much fun but stressful at times. plus we had to make a theme for each of the 8 shapes. I did mine into Chemicals or formulas (I made the truncated cube diamond (C60)) I got a 98% on it! I currently get all A's and am hoping to continue this through high school.:)
But I'm just wondering how many of you older students compare to my current academic standings and how you were at my age. I'm hoping to do something like chemical engineering, or anything with chemicals/science!
Thank you all for your comments!! :D
(Sry if it seems like I'm a clumsy with spelling. I was typing it on an iPad mini) I also apologize if I seem in the slightest in anyone's eyes to be... arrogant -_-

I love learning and I retain information easily, but I don't think I'm as smart as you :D I freakin love science and I hope to be a physicist. I'm barely in AP Geometry because I was a total slacker in 8th grade and I wasn't satisfied with my end of year average, so I dropped the class and took it again my freshman year of highschool. By the time I started highschool I already had all my foreign language credits, yet for some reason I was still put into Spanish so I'm thinking of dropping my current Dual Credit Spanish class and taking Physics and Business early (since my Spanish class is a double block). I'm also going to be taking a Philosophy class at the community college this summer for college credit. I'm a sophomore by the way. Vsauce and Scishow are my two favorite Youtube Channels :)

Awesome! Glad to hear from a fellow Vsauce/Scishow fan! I appreciate the nice and encouraging comments and I hope you succeed in school as well! Good Luck!:D

You sound exactly like someone I know irl, especially the "chemical engineer" part.
I have to take all AP classes next year, not exactly thrilled about it. Guess that's what I get for graduating with honors, eh?

Funny thing is I used to HATE science back when it was all about cells and stuff. I hated that stuff!

Well someone seems to be a little arrogant... If you must know, I'm officially a future nuclear engineer for the Navy.

Yes I tend to brag a lot when it comes to my smarts. I'm sorry if you don't like that, it's just how I am.

You mean that as a dream and not literally correct?

No, I'm in the Navy and waiting on my boot camp ship date on the 8th of July 2014. I've signed the contract and that is my official job.

Hmm, didn't know that you could do that as a 17 year old.

And you're calling me arrogant? I'm only saying it seems odd that they would enlist an 18 year old nuclear engineer. Being only 18 i assume you haven't attended college.

I don't believe I've come anywhere near your level of arrogance. Also, 17 is the age requirement for the program, and why would someone need college to join the military, when you're going to attend an 18 month school once you join?

My mistake, I misunderstood that the Navy would be teaching you themselves. I don't think I was arrogant in my post, yes I was bragging a bit, but I had no intention of acting or seeming better than others. That's why I asked for older students to comment, instead of having kids MY age calling me arrogant and being the immature little one that they may be. Clearly you had the immaturity to stoop to my level and then call me arrogant.
Again, I apologize for being an expert on the military program you are participating in. And I congratulate you on your academic success as well.:D

For one, calling yourself smart isn't arrogant in your mind? Also, I'm not your age, or being immature in any way. I'm just stating that when you go around flaunting your middle school achievements and calling yourself smart, you won't get anywhere with people.

How would I refer to myself other than smart? Would you prefer intelligent or maybe Advanced Academic Placement? It certainly wouldn't be arrogant, stating my intelligence isn't arrogant whatsoever. You are acting like a brat my age would act, that's for sure. Also, I believe I asked for your academic standings when you were about my age, great that you're succeeded now, but I'm interested in mature teens that are willing to provide a valid and plausible comment that would benefit the thread poster, and not call them arrogant like a little hypocritical asshole, now please, post a comment valid enough for me to use.

Stating all of your babied middle school class achievements wasn't necessary. All you show people by doing that is that you are sucked up into your own world and think you're better than others. You didn't even have to call yourself smart. Hmm, I'm the brat now, even though you're the one bringing on the cuss words? That isn't showing maturity, buddy.

Yes and it's totally mature to argue with those younger than you, and clearly it was helpful to state some of my achievements as it was enjoyable and assisted one mature commenter to relate me to another person they know, and it was helpful for others on the thread, but not you? Why bother commenting if you are just going to insult the thread poster? I will say it once more: please post a comment of value to me or please stop replying in an attempt to get the last word in this argument. Thank you.

At you're age I was smart in some subjects- Maths, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and ICT. Since around year 6/7 I was top of my class in all of them, except for in the Sciences, where I went down to about 2/3 in high school. Maths was similar, buti was placed in the wrong set (set 2) and could literally do the hours worth of work in under 10 minutes, so I got moved to the top set where I was around 4th in the class. ICT I've remainded in the top of the class from Year 4 right through to leaving high school, where I've now dropped it for the other above subjects. Any subjects such as English or Art (or ny creative subject, for that matter), I could not (and still cannot) do well at all.
