I'm not talking about competition cheerleading; that's definitely a sport.

I mean the ones who chant and dance at football games? Do you consider them athletes?

I clarify it as a sport. All the moves and stuff require lots of energy and lots of practice.

Yes. It's hard work doing all those flips.

Then would marching band be a sport? High stepping takes a lot of work. And the drum major's dance moves do too.

Yeah I would, considering it takes practice to do all the moves....

I consider anything that takes alot of energy/practice a sport. So i would classify that as a sport also.

Yeah I'd say it's a sport there's a lot of activity and some of it's similar to gymnastics.

I would definetly consider them athletes. At my school, they have to go through more conditioning than volleyball players.

Definitely. My best friend was a cheerleader, and I went to one of their practices, it was worse than when I played basketball. Ugh. They work hard.

Well,
I think Highschool Cheerleading is not really a sport.
As long the team is not going to competitions they really doing nothing than sideline stuff, my highschool team sucks basically and I'm lucky I quit after freshman year and decided to go more into all star cheerleading.
