I go to a school that distributes laptops for educational use.:) The problem is that they're locked up tighter than Alcatraz. My solution: Live USB booting of Slitaz to access basic applications (i.e. web browser without filters) without leaving a trace. My question: is the use of a Live USB traceable on the hard drive. Just using Slitaz lets me accomplish my goal, even without networking. I'm just worried the wardens will finds escape route.

Why would you want to do that? I mean can't you just go on that sort of stuff when you get home

Not really. The school computer is the only one I have access to at the moment, and besides that I have people who are willing to pay for a way past the barriers.

Even if I weren't short of money, I still get a thrill out of puzzles like this. And did I mention how much I hate being controlled?

That seems a bit desperate for school, I mean what would you wanna go on in school in a classroom of other people.

Just joking, i the only one! After a few tests I noticed the difficulty is too high. It's easy to get through, but network connections and persistence are problems that are too hard for me. I'm a Linux beginner and don't know how to do a bunch of stuff.

In other words, I'm done trying for now.

No they aren't traceable. You can also make bootable Windows USBs if you really want stealth.

I always thought about booting linux just for the hell of it. I'm trying that this year.

My school is strict with that stuff too, and got even stricter when someone go into the grading system. I doubt they will trace it though. I got into the schools computer network and see every computer in my school district... I can control others if i'm on a admins computer, and I also have access to everybodys (student and teachers) school id number we use to buy lunch and stuff. They still haven't done anything about it yet. There are always loopholes you can exploit... You just gotta find them
