Hey I've started having acne since last year in 8th grade and I belive it has really hurt my self confidence. I'm a freshman now and people have told me that I'm good looking but u don't belive them. I have it mainly on my chin and It's mostly the big red ugly ones that never go away. I've recently gone to a dermatologist to get it checked on and she prescribed me to a medicine called monodox and 2 topical treatments called differin and acanya. I play football and I think the chin strap may contribute to this.
So my questions are has anyone had experience with those medicines cuz I've been using it for 3 days and I'm started to break out even more and I don't know if it's just clearing out my acne or just not working.
Also should this be effecting my confidence with talking to girls? When a girl looks at me I always think it's cut they're looking at my acne. What can I do to bring up this confidence and Is acne a major turn off?

I don't know if it belongs in this section but I will answer.
1. When you shave there is a risk of the acne spreading
2. Wash your face with a neutral soap
3. If you are desperate then put toothpaste on top of the acne, but it might leave a mark once it disappears.
4. Do not touch them.
5. The grease from stuff that touches your face might make it worse, if you say it is the chin strap then wash it and then put it on.

Ok 3 days is not long and if you think its not working good get back to the doc.
Maybe the chin strap does make it worse but I dont know how long at a time you wear it for. or maybe you could line it with some gauze or tissue.
Hope it gets better -

I'm not sure if any medicine can work in only 3 days. And about your self confidence; NO it should not affect it at all. I'm sure you think about it much more than any girl you will be dating

I used to have acne problems. Finally, I just got fed up with it. I already had pretty low self confiednce in myself so I asked my parents to take me to a dermetologist. I got a perscription (sorry I don't remember what it's called :() but it worked and still works great. I didn't see results right away, but after a month or two I really started noticing differences. Give it a little time to work and see what happends.
Now that I look back on it, I don't think anyone particularly avoided me because of something like acne. I think it's just something that I was self conscience about. Now I realize that everyone seems to get it every once in a while. If anyone were to judge you on your apearence, they probably aren't someone you want to hang around with anyway.
I hope your acne problems get better. Don't let it lower your confidence! :)

I recently went to my doctor and got a prescription for differin (a couple moths ago). you won't notice much at first but after about 3 or 4 weeks i saw huge improvement, hopefully you will too.
