View Full Version : Pulling the race card

I always get pissed off when people pull the race card. Today's generation hasn't experienced much discrimination (when it comes to race. Blacks and Mexicans haven't experienced any more discrimination than others experience), in fact, they receive benefits just because of their race. People like to pull the race card by saying "My people have suffered long enough" when in reality, they have no right to pull that race card, the only people who have the right to say "my people have suffered long enough" are the people who ACTUALLY suffered. Just because your parents or grandparents suffered doesn't mean you did, which means you shouldn't be pulling that phrase.

Do you agree with me or disagree and why?

Yes I HATE it! It's so low but it's used by the American left so often.

"I hope ObamaCare is thrown out by the Surpeme Court. It's unconstitutional."

"That's raciest."

Yeah I agree with you, they haven't suffered no where near as much as their ancestors did... The race card happens a lot today because you can't respond to it or you just get called racist even more in my experience >.<

Not everyone pulls the race card though, most of the people I know use it as a joke sometimes if I say something completely unrelated to their race and they go 'is it because i'm black' and i say 'yes' and we laugh :D

The one general thing that annoys me is when other nations abbreviate our country and call me a Scott or something similar but I can't do the same because that would be racist. I understand that decades of hate has gone into certain words but I think now that we are within 21st century and moving on into a more accepting world, these things should change and the meaning behind the words change.

Again it comes back to the terminology used, you can call a white person white and no offence is taken but call someone who is black, black and they have a right to take offence. I think we need to move on from those words and meanings because slowly discrimination has lessened over the last dozen decades.

it does but most people who use the race card use it when theres no racism, just the crap of life but of course if your black and it happens to you it must be because your black

Once again your being too vague, too arrogant and too general. Many Black people do face racism and discrimination- you can't say that every black person who makes a complaint of racism is playing the race card.

The race card can in fact be played by any race due to the fact that the law doesn't give a shit if it's white on black or black on white

It's no where how it was 50 years ago. Not even close. Not even in the same ballpark. Sme people are so stupid that they believe that racism is the same as it was 50 yrs ago.

I absolutely hate it when my classmates pull the race card. They'll be roudy and disruptive and when the teachers calls them out on it they respond with, "You just yell at us because we're Mexican."

Racism is a problem in some extremely obvious and well-known parts of the world that we don't live in, but that's too obvious to point out, and I won't for fear of being laughed at.

In some states where I live, blacks have been getting off easy so the police can prove they're not racist. its sad.

I hate the race card ploy but all races face trouble and like it or not, minorities still face troubles in many nations, the U.S. included. And nothing is wrong with being proud of your heritage such as "I'm Irish American, the Irish is first." Why? First it's proper English, if reversed the person is an American-born Irish man or American-heritage Irish man. Just clearing this up to whom ever said it.

The fact that you are all using "Black" as your example is putting me on edge ...

Well don't let it. It's an example. But some people are bound to be out on edge over an example, especially on here where so many people are offended so easily.

At you referring to my comment? It's offensive that I think a law is unconstitutional?

Give me a break. It IS unconstitutional.

No. How you say others go against it.

I personally have had people play the race card whilst debating with them. People who say the majority of his opposision is because he's half black.

And your right, THAT is offensive.

I hate it when people play the race card. We're all human beings regardless of the color of our skin or our background and we're equal. We ought to be treated as such. Like if an Asian (picking my own race for these examples so don't jump on me) does something way better, like playing piano, in my case, than everybody else, the others say "It's because you're Asian, isn't it?" It happens to me and I hate when it does. No, people, it's not because I'm Asian. It's because I practice well and try my best. Or, when people pick on bad drivers who happen to be Asians. Sure, some of them are poor drivers who could improve, but there are people, like my parents - both Asian - who are good drivers. And there are bad drivers of every race and color.
People, we're all equal. Just stop this racism. It's stupid. This is the 21st century. It's a new millennium. Let's make it a good one.
