Hey guys, I have the Razer 7.1 audio software that lets me listen to 7.1 surround on standard 2.0 channel headphones, it has it's own VAC audio input but that doesn't work so I installed another VAC; that just didn't work either, but it also slowed down my pc significantly. However I can record speaker audio just fine on Procaster. I want to record a demo of this new software I got using my speaker audio but i can't find anything that is able to record from my audio output.

Does anyone know of a good software that I can use, or a fix for this issue?

So you want to downmix a piece of audio (so a file) that's in 7.1 surround to stereo surround? Or you want to record some program (like a game) that generates 7.1 surround in stereo?

If the first, I think Audacity could do that, and if not, Foobar2000 I believe can do that.

If the second, and you want to record the audio going out of the computer, try Audacity, recording the Wave Out (or Wave Mix, whatever it's called) channel. If you're using a modern version of Windows and a program that has DRM, it might not be possible to record with this method.

addendum
Rereading I see you want to record the 7.1 downmixing software itself, so I think the second option should work for you, if you're using Windows.

No, I want to keep it in 7.1 surround (It's virtualized so you can hear it with a normal pair of headphones.) but I can't seem to record it.

So you're downmixing a 7.1 surround signal to stereo only for output, but you want to record the original 7.1 source? What is generating the 7.1 audio?

I'm not sure Audacity has proper support for >2 channel surround. Anyways the sound is only 7.1 from the program on it's way to the virtual 7.1 audio output device... after that it's been downmixed to stereo. It doesn't sound like there would be a way to record that unless the virtual device supported it itself.

Do you have a physical 7.1 sound device? If so, have you tried recording using that, without a downmixer installed at all?
