So my friend dropped her iphone in ice cream and now music only plays if she has her earphones in. When she tries to play music without them, it says she has her earphones in. Does anybody know what the problem is?

If you already tried searching the question up on Google you probably won't find it. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, which is an android so I don't know that much about iPhones. How long was the iPhone in the ice cream?

I don't know, she didn't tell me but I don't think that long.

She could have dropped the iPhone in a way where the ice cream got in the speakers on the bottom. That's basically water damage it seems and I don't think there's anything she can do to repair the speakers if that's the case.

Basically what Bird Fold said, the speakers got damaged, not much you can do there, maybe get replace parts.

Ahhh, try to take the battery off and put it in the jar of rice(rice sucks all the wetness) if the problem is fluid, then if u know someone experienced get him to totally check the speekers, but idk what tools would he need, best way is to pay up a bit, give it to a repair man,and never drop an icecream on it(or other way around ;) )

If the phone thinks she has headphones in when they're not then that's not really a speaker problem but audio jack problem. If she hasn't already try rebooting the phone, if that doesn't work try restoring the phone on itunes, if that doesn't work then it's internal and you may have to open the phone/get it checked out

there's a short in the headphone jack, or on the logical board causing the iphone to think that the headphones are inserted. dry the iphone (bag of dry rice) for like 3 days and then clean the headphone jack.
from my experience about 90% of my phones survive being dropped in a pure water. however if it is dropped into salty water most of them don't survive but i highly doubt that that ice-cream had salt in it :)
im shure that your friends iphone will work properly in few days
best to switch it off for now to increase chances of it surviving
