Saints Row IV

Anybody have it yet? Thoughts? Is it superior to other open world games?

I personally will be buying SR4 as soon as I get my new desktop in a few months. I have 3 and 2, but they're unplayable on my potatoes, so hopefully it will be an experience worth the wait.

I've only had a brief run around on SR3 personally, I can't say I was overwhelmed by it to play it again or progress with buying the games but I should probably give it more than the intro :P I can't fault it for being a decent open world game, just a little.. wild I suppose

I liked it a lot, the game is hilarious, it even makes fun of Mass Effect's romance plot and scenes. The superpowers are awesome (although they can get repetitive) and character creation is amazing.

Totally worth it.

That's what I love about the fragment of 3 that I played. It's such a different game from GTA, because your focus isn't just to do crimes and cause chaos, your focus is to do crime, cause chaos, and have fun in the most ridiculous ways possible. They accent that by making even jumping into a car absolutely hilarious.

I just hope SR4 lived up to its previous installment.

Yeah, that sounds a lot closer to the mark :P the customization is incomparable to GTA too, that's one thing I really liked

SR III was a lot of fun. I was a huge fan of the insane sexual weapons and outfits lol. Dildo bats? Yeah, that's awesome. Punching gloves that literally punch the victim to pieces? Also awesome.

I didn't know there was a SR IV. I am definitely going to be playing ASAP.

I'm not trying to be uncool but I honestly think saints row 2 was the best. I mean it was crazy but still realistic. I think it's like they've realized they can't compete with GTA for depth and story-line so there are making it as fucked up as possible.

One of the sr4 advertisements I listened to said, "You can kill aliens with dubstep!" And then continuously blared horrible amplified sound waves into my ears which people have decided to call a music genre. So no, I will not be purchasing sr4. It's really disappointing though to see what this game has become. The first one looked promising, the second one was decent, and the third one was just utterly ridiculous. They lost the story line and any grip on realism that the game used to have. Now it's just obnoxious.

As I was late to SR3, I find a bit of SR4 really boring because I feel like I just played this game. I like the premise, I just hate that I'm in a simulation and not the real Steelport. I don't get the point of making the superpowers a more op means of travel than cars cause what's the point of cars now? My biker babe is gliding through the air all the time instead of driving a Kaneda. :/

I'm at 52% completion so I can't make a final judgment yet.

It's most certainly worth the wait. The beginning two or three levels are a bit random, but then you get to the open-world after you finish those. It's actually a lot of fun, you get to drive old vehicles in the introductory levels, in the beginning. Honestly, it's not much different from Saints Row III, same clothing, just more customizable. If you are on a budget and/or already have Saints Row III, I would save the money for the new GTA coming out. That's my opinion.

I've never tried Saints Row! Always stuck with Grand Theft Auto. :cool:
