Ok, well the schools supplier dropped off butter and it was left outside 1 of the class rooms. Me and my mate stole ten pounds of it.

We had to go to the deans, but we deniers it an we are not going to confess to it.

Btw w stole the butter on Monday and they talked to us today. They then said "we are waiting for camera footage to download then we will see if yous did it
The reason I think their lying, is cause camera footage doesn't have to download.

P.S we regret doing it, so we are going to return it, but we are not going to confess to doing it, but are they lying.

The reason I think their lying, is cause camera footage doesn't have to download.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't but that's not really the point.

How old are these people? My aunt, who has cable internet, says she's going to log on to the internet. Why does she say that when the internet is ALWAYS on? Is she lying or just not using the right word?

Think about it. The video may be recorded by some outside company. When they want to see it they may have to call them and ask. The company may make it available to them through some website they have to log into and... wait for it... download it.

Or maybe they are just using the wrong word to describe what they're doing.

Maybe a better question is why would you steal butter?

I think they mean import it. :P

They probably are importing it, or like Nicki said a different company has it, puts it online, and they have to download it.
The real question here is why did you steal ten pounds of butter?

Maybe a better question is why would you steal butter?
I think you mean "Maybe a butter question is why would you steal butter?" Get it? No? Crud. I need to make butter puns.

They could have it, like Nicki said, a 3rd party could host their camera servers.

Not even gonna ask why you stole butter...

Well it sounds like you guys better start rounding up all the butter, assuming you didn't eat it all.

They could not be lying. As a few people have said above, it could be run by a third party provider. For example, the third party could store the footage somewhere on their facilities and have it available to download by the customer (in this case, your school) in order to view it, at which point they would need to download it. However, they might be lying. I know all school in my area, even universities, have their security systems (especially CCTV and security footage) ran internally and there's somebody watching over them constantly (in my school and the university, anyway, I'm not sure about the last bit for other schools). But I really wouldn't risk it. If I were you I'd be prepared to apologize and pay the school for the butter.

It's possible they were telling you this telling you this to try and get a confession out of you. Like others have said though, it's pretty likely that any video that is stored is going to be offsite and need to be sent back to the school.

Don't ever confess.
Deny until they show you proof.
Chances are they don't have any proof.

If no one breaks the lie, then you all will be fine.
Just don't say anything.

Personally if you deny it and get caught with this CCTV footage then you're in more trouble, do you really want to risk that?

If you confess and return the butter then you'll get a much lighter sentence.

An even better question is why the hell would you steal like $60 worth of BUTTER (!) and then contemplate returning the said contraband while still trying to remain innocent! Wat r u doing wit ur life. Why would you then try to make the school seem like the criminal by accusing them of lying about a technical subject you have very little knowledge about. I think your country failed by letting you into high school.

That's such an optimistic answer. Too bad it never works that way ._.

Lie! Just forget you ever did it and move on!

Just don't waste all that butter :P

Where's the fun in that?

OP, I hope you put that butter to use in some pranks or something.

Now throw that butter at the principal's office windows when it's dark, conceal your faces and clothes color. I still can't believe you stole a decade long supply of butter and got away with it. I once got away with throwing mud at a truck and some school windows and throwing firecrackers in my school yard.
