View Full Version : Meeting up with old friends...

Hi there, I have literally just joined this forum but I am hoping to get some advice...

When I was a kid I used to hang around with a group of about 5 friends who (still) live down my road. We were the best of friends and everyday after school we would meet up on our bikes and ride around the block. We used to pretty much live in the park.

However, I think I made a wrong decision somewhere along the line. One of my friends got selfish, so much so that I didn't want to hang around with him anymore. The wrong decision was that, not only did I neglect that one person, but the rest of them as well.

I'm 19 now and have left sixth form and looking for work. It gets really depressing and I only really have two friends (not any of the ones above) whom I meet up with on a regular basis. I'm so bored with my life and i feel that all of the excitement has dwindled away with the snap of a finger.

I want to meet up with my old friends again but I find it awkward talking to people and I don't know where to start. I hope I have posted this in the correct place. If you could give me some ideas then I would be most grateful.

Thanks
Mike

Hello Plykshow,
I completely understand the situation you are in :(. I'm 14 this year, and I've only had 3 friends...who I could actually consider friends. 2 of them are leaving in a few weeks time, and the remaining one (Let's call him S), has this habit of running off with his friends, leaving me alone.

I find it ridiculously difficult to talk to new people myself. I always end up stuttering and eventually I just give up. I think its useful to first ask them about how they've been/what they've been doing, and then, maybe, perhaps talk about the past a bit.

Sometimes you should just talk to them, and explain your situation.
I hope I've helped, and sorry about my horrible english :whoops:

The best place to start is by saying hello, I recently started talking to an old friend a while ago, it's not that scary in the end, the worst thing they can say is go away and well, that's not really that bad is it? good luck!

Hi,

I think given the nature of your concerns and questions that you'll receive much more better/relevant answers in our family and friends section.
