I am 16, my name is Jake and I am starting to form Arthritis in my joints because when I was younger I used to tip-toe. I have had some Moderate to Severe pain in my joints from walking lond distances. Illinois (the state I live in) has recently passed a bill allowing Medical Marijuana to be distributed to people with certain diseases. I dont know if I am old enough to smoke it but I would still would like your opinion on if I can apply for the future or not. Thanks!

Here in California the age limit for obtaining medical marijuana recommendations is 18, but the ailments one can get a recommendation for are pretty wide open. In my experience, you can get a recommendation for pretty much anything with certain clinics here in Los Angeles.

That said, the Illinois law is different and appears to be much more restrictive. They appear to be very focused on serious conditions heavily affecting quality of life. However, my brief research did not uncover anything saying that there is an age limit on the prescription of medical marijuana.

I highly doubt you'll be able to obtain it in Illinois for arthritis, but given that I don't know your condition and am not a doctor, I'm not going to be able to tell you. Your best bet is discussing it with a qualified physician. Remember that if medical marijuana is legal, there is no reason to be scared to speak to a doctor about it!
