First of all let me introduce myself, My name is Jake and I am 16 years old. I live in Chicago, Illinois and enjoy smoking pot, everyday. I have become almost addicted to marijuana that my parents are getting sick of the smell. I smoke menthol cigarettes after I smoke to enhance my high but im trying to quit those too. Do you guys have any advice on how to cut my Marijuana addiction so I dont crave for it all the time? I think its the cigarettes that keep me smoking pot, but thats me. Its almost to the point where if I have money I will just contact my dealer and buy weed as a need not a want. I also start school on Tuesday. I dont want this to affect my grades nor my ACT I have this year. I just want to enjoy the Marijuana to where I can control my consumption. I have a very high tolerence because I have been smoking since I was 13. Usually I will smoke 3 bong bowls and ill be good for an hour or so. I just need helpful information on how to reduced my craving and feel good about myself doing it. Thanks!

Fare warning I am NOT promoting Marijuana, I just need some advice from you guys and gallz.

I have actually tried an ecig but it only lasts for like 8 hours and they are like $7 each. With $10 id just rather but a dime instead of nicotine for 8 hours.

I'm pretty sure it isn't even addictive.. that's just a myth, if you like doing something a lot of course it's going to feel like you're addicted, but I'm pretty sure if you really tried you could cut back if you wanted.

Well they say you cant get addicted but then again they say 4/100 people cant stop using it. You can get mentally addicted to it.

Firstly, to all of those who claim the drug isn't addictive...it is! Although not physically, it certainly can be psychologically addictive.

You need to get back in control of your Marijuana use, and maybe you could schedule certain times when you will use it in an attempt to wean yourself off the drug. For instance, only use it every other day for a couple weeks, eventually using it fewer and fewer times. You will likely need to establish a plan, but hey it can be done. Good luck.

As I've said on the other thread. Marijuana isn't really addictive, it's only addictive in the mental aspect that you enjoy the sensation it brings. It's not addictive like cigarettes or even coffee (let alone other drugs).

So the way to stop. Is just stop. It's really that easy because there's no withdrawal effects.

You are right it may be the cigs. Pot I dont think is that addictive. But I have friends that smoke it but then crave cigs. I would be more concerned about them I smoked them and it is a bad bad habit. I needed to break free quickly.

Sorry, but why do all you stupid kids talk about things you dont know anything about?? The guy is in a unwanted cannabis addiction and all you do say is 'just stop, it aint harder than that'....

Let me tell you all something, Im 17 years old and have been a huge pothead since i was 14. Ive had a few breaks, and let me tell you about the hardest time i stopped. I had been smoking all day everyday in months, not going to school or working or anything, just sitting all day smoking weed.. Then i started on a school where you live 24/7, long from home, so i couldnt smoke and the first weeks was HORRIBLE. I couldnt sleep, i started shaking, started sweating, couldnt eat didnt have any appitite at all.

Its true that you dont get addicted to weed like you do to cigs and other drugs. But when you smoke weed some stuff in your brain releases that makes you feel good. And if you smoke all the time for a long time, your brain get used to this, and if suddently it all changes your brain will fuck up and you will become depressed. Of course it will go away after some time, and you can feel your head becoming clear, 3 weaks is my worst case of absti.

Now, OP heres my advice. If you want to stop smoking weed, the first thing you have to do is cut weed of your life. If your have any friends that the only thing you do with them is blazing, then you have to cut them off. You have to tell your friends that you stop smoking and you wont be with them when they smoke. This can be hard, but believe me its the only way, if you really wanna stop a heavy weed addiction.
If you want you can do other stuff. Start working out, focus on school, go to partys, find a nice girl.

If your up for this, then props for that, thats more then i ever managed to do, but seen it many times.

Good luck friend, cheers

Try doing social things like sports and what not. Oh, and there are drugs you can take to reduce the need for weed.

I would also try chewing anti smoking gum.
