Now here is another question about videogames, which videogames have the best stories along with characters, dialogues, etc?
For me it is:
The Witcher 2 - You literally decide the fates of kingdoms.
Silent Hill 2 - The story is what truly scares you and fucks with your mind.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - The simple fact that every character has a backstory and the world is so vast is incredible.
Alan Wake - Excelent writing and dialogue, the main character is a writer after all.
Spec Ops: The Line - The characters are so strong and having you take all these moral choices and see them deteriorate is shocking.
Assassin's Creed 2 - It is all so much deeper than you initially think.
Bioshock - Dat plot twist.

I liked a couple
Spec Ops: The Line- I agree with you
Bioshock 1,2, and infinite - 2 was somewhat predictable but still good to me
Mass effect - loved 2 and 3 for the choices and consequences and I accept the ending.
Catherine - Weird, Fun, and hard at times, but a crazy story. It was underrated but still cool, and have different endings.
Gears of War 3- Miss the guy
The Last of Us - expected but unexpected ending
Telltale's the walking dead- best ever
Kinda portal 1 and 2- fun and cool

Alright so this is what I could come up quickly:
Dear Esther: I love how you slowly find out more things about your suroundings and your own history.
Red Dead Redemption: Great characters especially John Marston :D Always surprising and funny story and dialogues.
Guild Wars (all of 1): These "games" or "expansions" or whatever you'd like to call them are all amazing and create a very nice world with a lot of story elements and things to discover about these stories.
AC 2: I totally agree, such a deep and interesting story!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword had a weak story in comparison to other games in the franchise, but the game gave you a much closer bond to the characters, and more reason to rescue the character which the series is named after. One of my personal favorites, despite the haters.
The Last of Us, because...well fuck. If you don't know by now then you need to find out.
KOTOR 1 and 2 were great as far as storylines.
Portal 2 sparked a lot of very interesting theories based on its story.
And that's all I can think of at the moment.

I wish I could have got into the Spec Ops more. I do remember some big points such as the White Phosphorus bombing on civilians etc but the gameplay is so repetitive that I couldn't help but only play it in short bursts but I do intend to finish the game.
In recent times I'd have to say The Last of Us
Simply the fact that you saw Joel loose his Daughter then become very hard inside and then the relationship with Elie and how he had such a hard time letting her in.
That was such an emotional story.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. You don't know what size your underwear is at the beginning of the game, but later on, you discover who you are.

Other then the ones already said, I think DA: Origins actually had a strong storyline. I love Fereldens mythos and version of fantasy. Plus the Grey Wardens are badass

Dishonered and Assassins Creed have been some of the best storylines made.
The Last of Us as well have been pretty epic.

I think Hitman Absolution (I mean HM 5) had a great story and the special effects made the game better by the story..
Also,World In Conflict has a good one either.

#1 Last of Us(Never played it, but watched the walkthroughs for fun and it has a fantastic story)
#2 Halo series(Has the best combo of gameplay and story IMO, and has influenced alot of game ie Conduit series.)
#3 Assassins Creed 3(Very good story, and gameplay. I love how they make history bend with fiction)
#4 Call of Duty Black Ops(Ive always been interested in the "sleeper cell" theory and JFK.)
#5Gears of War series (I love this game, and it would be higher, but to many things happened that i didnt want to happen)
I would rank Dead Space on here, but its in a class all its own.

I know y'all will hate me for this first one...
Call of Duty:Modern Warfare series. It is actually well put together. Lots of twists and turns. But the latest one only had one good part. It ended the series as it began. Price smoking.
Halo: No explanation required, it is too good for explanation.
Battlefield 3: Blackburn, you do a lot to prevent the world's destruction.
Final Fantasy IV: A tale of two brothers. Perfected by Square.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
3- The awesome tale of father and son. Bethesda perfected for the first time in that company's history.
NV- A guy gets shot in the head and traces his culprit out of vengeance. Nice one.
Lastly,
Disgaea:HoD: A tale of a dynamic character that learns to love.

LA Noire has the most down to world storyline in that it's kinda of boring at the time but nothing beats Red Dead Redemption for pure emotion

I don't even think you have played Silent Hill 2 to say AC2 has a better story. Plus, Tesla and Edison don't even appear in Assassin's Creed II, they appear in additional content in the AC universe.

Story behind it i said, and no,i never played 2,il have to since i hear its real good, and i wasnt speeking only for the ac2,thats my mistake, bad words :P AC2 revealed a lot of stuff, and tesla and edison dont appear in AC2 they appear in all those riddles and puzzles in it,as i said in the story behind it,the entire AC2 AcB and Revalations(hadnt have time to play AC3 :( so i cant say about it) have one amazing story if ur into mystery and that kind of stuff, its really cool when u complete 100% of it,then u know all(if ur smart enough to understand, even then u have to do some digging on the web)
