What are your thoughts on it? Does it disrupt us in any way? Are vigilantes more effective than the police?

Vigilantes are not a good idea in reality, they can end up causing more trouble than they solve.

That can be true - but sometimes it is a good thing -

Yeah, I agree with this. I mean sure, there can be good responsible vigilantes, but that's a minority.

There could be responsible ones, but there are a thousand times more of those who shoot first and then ask questions.

Sorry, but we're not in the Wild West anymore, although sometimes I wish I was. Our Court system works pretty good, and police normally can do a better job.

Yes, let's get the law in the hands of the likes of Zimmerman. Good idea.
Take all the trouble we have with the police - brutality, corruption, abuse of power and multiply that by a million. That's what a vigilante system would bring. This isn't the feudal age, no one needs levies anymore.

Don't even.
I don't think vigilantes are very practical. If everyone could go out on the streets serving their own form of justice, then why even bother with a law enforcement system? Things would get out of control way too fast.

If by vigalanty you mean bail bondsman then HECK NO!!!! They are horrible. They are wannabe cops who couldnt do it. Dog the bounty hunter give people false ideas. My dad actually arrested "dog" on one off his "missions."

If we want to be seen as a society of character, integrity, morality, and responsible justice then vigilantes have no place.

Great idea for movies (Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy are my favorite movies of all time), but vigilantes have no place in real life. They get in the way of law enforcement and risk their own lives for nothing other than a feeling of self-worth (real life vigilantes don't actually do much good).
On a related note, vigilantes like George Zimmerman do much more harm than good.

In the UK sometimes we see vigilantes beating up unconvicted criminals, it causes problems.

It's a good thing in movies and in TV shows. Vigilantes in reality are untrained civilians who are putting themselves and the lives of others in danger.
I don't love the way some police act, in fact I really dislike it, but they're there for a reason and do a pretty good job of keeping things in order. If there were a vigilante or two running around in my town I don't think he or she would be making the police officers' jobs easier, they would probably take to take a bunch of extra precautions and take extra safety measures to make sure that the vigilante was safe, the police were safe and that other civilians were safe as well. All in all, I really think it's a bad idea. Sounds good in your head -- but on paper not so much.

I completely agree, there was a man a few years ago in Britain who saw a man robbing a shop, he tried to be the good guy, it turned out it was a gang of 6 (i think six?) and he got really badly beaten up, the armed police that was called actually saved him, id they arrived later he would have died
