I was wondering if it's possible to use a toy without breaking my cherry? I really want to try one, but I'm worried that it will hurt or I'll break it by accident.

Virginity is lost when you first have sex, not when you break your hymen.
But really, you have to break is sometime so who cares how you do it. Either way it'll hurt.

You could just use a vibrator on your clit and that should keep everything intact.

Okay. First of all, you don't "pop your cherry." That's a myth. The hymen is a stretchy membrane that remains for your entire life (assuming you have one; not all people with vaginas do). It stretches with penetration and can tear, which is why some people experience bleeding. It will gradually return to its state, like a rubber band, if there's no penetration for some time, which is why sex might be uncomfortable after a long dry spell. Second of all, the concept of virginity is entirely a social one. You decide what your virginity means to you. If someone is raped, are they still a virgin? If someone has sex with someone of the same sex, are they still a virgin? There are many different arguments and disagreements. Ultimately, it's up to you and you only to decide what your virginity means to you.

As for using a toy, it might be uncomfortable at first, but you could work through it. It might tear your hymen a bit, it might not. There's no way to know until you try.

it's really not that hard to do if you really want one.

Thank you all for your advice. It never occurred to me to just use one on my clit. My parents were pretty vague on sex ed. So. I'm trying to figure things out as I go.

FWIW, I find stimulation on my clit alot more pleasurable than penetration, but maybe that's just me.

Using a vibrator would be a good idea

Losing your virginity is a bit different for everyone because everyone has a different definition of virginity. Usually, you lose your virginity when you have sex for the first time. A hymen is inside a woman's vagina usually, though in some cases it can partially, or (rarely) even fully cover it. It can wear away over time and grow back if you stop masturbating or having sex. A woman who has had a baby will have less of her hymen than a little girl, but they will both have something there. That is, assuming they both had one originally, sometimes girls are born without them. Often when a girl has sex for the first time, plays a sport, uses a tampon or a toy, the hymen will tear and that can cause pain and some blood, and is what most people interpret the line 'pop your cherry' to mean. But reality is, there's still gonna be something there and if you haven't had sex you're still a virgin.

Edit: I see now that Elysium already said virtually the same thing. Whoopsies.
