I was just wondering, what is the general opinion on friends with benefits type relationships?
I only ask, because me and a very close friend have begun one. And by friends with benefits I mean, we are very close friends, but every now and then we get together, in a sexual way (everything up to sex, as I am still a virgin and want to loose my virginity in a relationship).
So far we have only got together once, and it was mutually agreed, so there was no pressurizing either side. The plan is, we only ever do this when we are both single (as we both respect each others future partners) and when we are both up for it.
I feel like I may be regarded as a 'slut' for engaging in this type of relationship, when to me, its just me and a friend enjoying each others company, in a friendship way, and a sexual way.
What are your guys opinions on this type of relationship?

Personally, I wouldn't do it, because I feel sexual things should happen with someone you are in a relationship with and care a lot about.

In my opinion, it's fine as long as you're single. Just not if you're in a relationship.
I see no problem with what you're doing.

I know it works for some people but would never work with me. I'd get likely get emotionally attached. Would depend on how fragile my mindset was at the time I guess. But above all, it goes against my theory of only having sex in relationships anyways.

I have never had one, but I think that could be pretty nice! Sometimes you don't want to get emotionally involved, but you'd still like to have a little bit of fun without getting too serious..

I definitely wouldn't flaunt it to others' to keep your reputations safe, but it's not something that I'm against. You have rules set up to ensure it's not cheating or anything, so it sounds thought through, and I don't see any problems with it. I would probably do the same thing if I had mutual interest with a friend.

As long as there are mutually agreed upon rules and boundaries, then there's no problem. I'm all for such situations as long as both parties are clear on what they want and what they don't.

You shouldnt be talking about " keeping your reputation safe " when you just told me what other people think and popularity is not important.

I think friends with benefits are ok. I think I'd do it only if I'm 100% sure I couldn't fall in love with them knowing we wouldn't work out. (I'm afraid of getting my heart broken).

Reputation and popularity are not the same thing.

If you are ok with things - then fine - its not for others to judge.
