What would you consider a real guy to guy friend?? Explain your answer please! Thank You!

I would say someone who doesn't turn their back on you even in the worst of situations. Someone that doesn't act different to you when around other people. Also, someone that doesn't talk crap about you, they will say "I was just joking!" but i never really believe them. And I say this only because I knew someone that did all those thing and I came to find out that he spread rumors about me and I thought we were really good friends but I guess not.

There is more to my definition of what a best friend would be but I think I can just sum it up with it being someone who deeply, truly cares about me and is thankful for the fact that I am alive even though he doesn't have to, and knows full well that I feel the same about him.
