But your info says you're 14...?
Anyways, in my opinion, that's a huge age gap, and in most places, this would be illegal.
This might also be dangerous, because you haven't fully matured physically or mentally, and this guy could ( not saying he is ) be a pervert. And honestly, there's no reason why you can't date someone your age, and he can date someone his age.

But that's just my 2 cents.

I agree.

No thirty six year old should want to be with someone 14/16. There are a lot of problems that could arise from that situation.

I think that you need to forget about this guy. He's obviously WAY too old for you. If it's questionable... that usually means that it's a no go. Just find someone else to like and you will forget all about this other guy.

Potentially dangerous for both of you, if you were to actually start something. Just a crush that you shouldn't act on. Leave it be, and go for someone your age or closer to it.

The age gap's too big, I think :/ I think you should go for someone closer to your age...

hes sweet, and never approahed me..

He's smart to have never approached you. Now you be a smart girl and don't approach him.

It is illegal...the most I personally would go, is a 3-4 years gap.

Age is a stupid thing, some would say it's weird to date someone a lot older/younger than you. In this case, can the man be trusted? You can't be sure that he's not a pedophile, single disturbed men can act all sweet when actually they just want to get in your pants for a "fresh / new" person if you get what I'm saying.
My advice would be to just be careful who you're dealing with here.

I don't think it is, sadly. Depending on the legal age you are allowed to have sex, for example in the UK it's 16, technically it's illegal for a 15 year old whose birthday is the very next day to have sex with someone who's turned 16 that very day.

So it's actually legal in the UK for a 16 year old to have sex with a, say, 46 year old. It's weird, but I don't think any charges can be pressed.

The short answer is no, the long answer is no there are a lot of downsides and it should be illegal in most countries.

I think people are being a bit judgemental here. Sure, he's probably too old and it probably wouldn't work out but it depends on the people. My mate's sister is 16 and goes out with a guy in his late 20s (for about a year). She's pretty gown up, he's a studenty type, they make a good couple and don't seem weird together.

Definitely proceed with caution, you never know what his intentions may be.. A lot of problems definitely may arise from this! Then again, I don't know either of you personally so I can't really say. But I would be careful!

16 is the age of consent in Britain so it would be legal there technically, dunno about the states...
But yeah, too big a gap. Potentially damaging to both of you.

Thats a giant age gap, and not necessarily legal in some situations. I find it weird for both sexes to have this gap

He's practically old enough to be your father! No, you should never date someone twice your age- the mental maturity difference is way too big. Now if you said he was, say, 20, I might say that it's close enough (although I'd advise against it because there's still a big difference).

When you get to be around the age of 20, the "general rule" of dating is: take the age of the older of the two, divide it by 2, and add 7. If their partner is less then that, it's too big a gap. (32/2+7=23, so the youngest a person he should be dating is 23).

That's way too big of an age gap. Stay away from him.

There's a reason he hasn't gone to you, it's because in his eyes you're just a little kid. I know about the whole age is just a number thing but I'm not sure I agree, he could almost be your dad..

You seem young to do that. That could be illegal since you aren't even eighteen yet.

Everyone is assuming this guy is down for dating a 14/16 yr old. I think if he is, then that's your first clue there is a MAJOR issue. Most likely he isn't and would carefully handle your advances and not let it go anywhere. Maybe you don't have a dad or an adult male in your life and you are projecting feelings on him as a substitute. This can be confused as romantic love. If you really like him, treat him like your uncle and talk to him about it. Chances are really good that he's just nice. But like I said, if you do that and he seems down for a hookup, then RUN THE HELL IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. DANGER!!!

He's lived a lifetime of more experience than you have. You are barely out of puberty and he's a full grown man who's already experienced so many different life lessons and other things. You'd be vulnerable to being completely influenced by him. Also he'd go to prison for life, not to mention it'd be on his record forever that he touched a little girl inappropriately, even if he's just kissing you.

He's twice your freakin age and you're not even 18 yet... stick around a 2-3 year age difference. Plus thats pretty weird.
