Or rather, how active do you need to be in order to do your job effectively?

I can't imagine having to be logged in all day and constantly moderating the site. I'm just wondering really how difficult it is.

You don't have to be on every day for every second. There isn't really a quota for the amount of time, I mean I always try to make sure to log in the morning because of the time difference but there is often other mods on at the same time. The good thing about the current staff is that their is always at least one of us online in case something happens

You don't have to active every moment of the day. However you do need to be active and participating while on Virtual Teen. Generally visiting every day or every second day and being an active poster is enough to be considered as a mod for activity wise.

The more active you're obviously helps. Also when you come on you don't have to moderate 24/7 but obviously we do carry out our duties and remain active.

Sorry, I have got to disagree with that, unless you are wearing your invisibility cloaks again :P

There are times when there are no staff visible online

Yes, it's because some mods are invisible. Basically any time I've logged in another staff member is online whether or not they're invisible.

If I had a cloak of invisibility do you think I'd be sitting here in my bedroom on VT? I'd be out causing problems on an unsuspecting public *evil laugh*

In all seriousness though we use the same invisibility method as everyone has in their user CP :D

Do you realize that any member can use this feature...? Not just staff :P

I know, I am quite often invisible. But I don't have the same reasons to do it as you guys do.

EDIT: I seem to be at the moment

A lot of staff remain invisible. There is mostly always at least one staff member online.

Why be invisible?

Why be invisible?

Its personal preference. You guys all have the right to be invisible and Staff are members as well and therefore we have that right too XD

Ah, that is why I see few mods connected. Although Bacon always seems to be online.

Although Bacon always seems to be online.

Usually when a mod is new they always seem to be on the forums and then after a few weeks they go back to just being on 1 or 2 times a day like most regular users.
Bacon (formerly known as Sylvester) is the newest H&A mod so that is probably why.

Oh no, I just don't sleep. I have a life outside of here though, have a job and all but I have and always will be this active. Also, technically I'm "new", but, I have done this before years ago. :P

Or this could be another explination to why she's always on. Lol
I'm just kinda "nocturnal", thus why I'm posting at 4:40am Eastern (US) Time. Once I do go to sleep I probably won't wake up until 3pm. Lol

Also, technically I'm "new", but, I have done this before years ago. :P

I did not know that! I guess we all always learn something new! Lol
Actually, when you first came on as a H&A mod last month, I seem to recall someone saying something like "welcome to round 2 as a mod" or something, so that makes sense now.

Ideally each staff member will log in every day and perform at least a basic part of their duty of patrolling the forums. However, it's appreciated that there are times where people are busy with whatever is happening in their life and they won't be terribly active for a period of time. Again, ideally you would like a staff member online at all times of the day. But the reality is that won't always be possible, even with people spread across various timezones. Staff are appointed based on their attitude, competency and activity. But even with that being the case, there will be times where no staff will be available.
