Not sure if this is in the right forum.
I have Goldenhar's Syndrome. However, my parents have given me a well built personality. I go to school like a normal person, and I have high grades too.
I know person with this syndrome, but his parents did not work on building his personality. He is kinda weak, personality-wise.
People always stare. Look at that ear! Why is your mouth like that? Or just stare quietly. I hate it. I can't hear with my right ear. So I find it difficult to talk to someone on my right side. It's kinda hard to make friends with those physical difficulties. Or even have a girlfriend!
Is anyone oculoauriculovertebral here? Besides me? :)
Or at least you know someone who is?

There was one kid in my gym class last year never really talked to him because he kept to himself

I'm kinda introverted too.

I don't know anyone with it, but my boyfriend was also born deaf in his right ear. Mostly I just stay on his left side, and people know he can't hear them all the time, so it makes it easier socially.

Maybe he has a mild case of it.
Does he use a hearing device, by the way?

He might. I've never really asked. It just is, so I've accepted it and so has he.
He doesn't. He has no hearing in his right ear, but he can hear in his left. He says that eventually he'll probably lost the hearing in his left ear too though.

Oh nice. I think people consider me a freak thay I hear with one ear. But I guess they are not as kind and accepting as you.
I'll be treating my lips later this year, and I will put a hearing device on my right ear.

I don't think it makes you a freak. I guess maybe the people you come into contact with aren't used to it.
Good for you! As long as you're doing it for yourself and not other people.
