Hi all :)
Rare gaming girl here, wondered if anyone else played MOBAs such as League of Legends, DotA 2, etc?

Yeah, I play LoL - the design philosophy behind it makes it so much more fun that DotA 2.

This is an opinion, not a fact.
I personally enjoy both DoTA 2 and LoL. They're both fun in their own ways. Most LoL players who bash on DoTA 2 do so because it's much more difficult to get a handle on things, but DoTA 2 feels so much more rewarding to master. That being LoL is a great game as well, it's much friendlier to newcomers in terms of UI. That being said the LoL community is much more vulgar and childish and it's easy to get annoyed at all the ass burgers you seem to get on your team. Whereas on DoTA 2 I've yet to see anyone start flinging vulgarities in chat or over the mic (DoTA also has mic support btw), I've actually never been annoyed with anyone on my team in DoTA, even if they feed or make bad decisions, because everyone has such a lax attitude and no-one plays the blame game.
So yea, I like MOBA's. xD

I used to play Heroes of Newerth, however MOBAs are not for me.

How does this have any counterplay at all? You get hit by a super fast hook from FoW, and 100% die. You can grief people very easily with Io's ultimate.
But most importantly, if a guy gets a kill or two, they can snowball out of control and by the lategame they can be 1v5ing your team with ease.
EDIT: Furthermore, Dendi's hooks actually require very little skill (throw out the hook with about a 0.5 sec time window, and the hook is so much faster than say Blitzcrank's). But. These free kills allow people to snowball massively out of control.
Not fun. That's my problem with DotA2. There are just too many things that are absurd to play against. Also, it involves less skill (due to the random nature of just about everything). Turning and autoattack animations feel slow - and for no reason.
More disgustingly, this exploit was used to WIN in a tournament.

I've fallen from "professional" MOBA's like LoL and DOTA. I much perfer more casual ones like Awesomenauts. So, I do play MOBA's just not most.

All this is is an attempt to justify your opinion, which is STILL an opinion, not a fact. It's really cute that you're so passionate about this, just because you're not very good at this game doesn't mean it isn't fun.
The random nature of everything? WTSFC? AN ONLINE-MULTIPLAYER GAME THAT DOES NOT OFFER A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE EVERY MATCH WILL GET BORING, FAST. The random element in DoTA 2 is what makes them fun, especially since there is only one map.
Now, about that huge ass paragraph you dedicated to that one hero, Pudge. Yes, his hook is powerful and fast, but still fairly easy to avoid if you see it coming (with wards and the like). I have faced that hero and won against him many times. At least the hook is the only hard CC he has, and isn't coupled with a knock-up move and a silence. About that "exploit", I thought it was rather funny, and probably wasn't intended by Valve to be used in that way, every game has these kinds of exploits, remember the game has only been out of beta for a few weeks.
To be honest I could care less about what you think of DoTA 2, I enjoy playing it and so do many others. So you just stick with LoL and leave us to enjoy something different.

This is just a friendly reminder not to share usernames for these games as it's against the rules :)
Back on topic, I played league for a while then got bored. I might try DOTA now that it's F2P but it doesn't seem to interest me that much.

While I may not know as much about the game as I do LoL, I am mechanically superior to most in my games.
You did not understand what I meant by random. I mean: your autoattacks do a random amount of damage, many spells have random effects (Chaos Knight's stun: 2-4 seconds), many items have random effects. This, coupled with the snowballiness of the game, means that against certain enemies or items, you could have the game snowball out of control simply due to bad luck.
Funny? You think it's funny that a team lost a game in a tournament due to this? Look at the kills as the clip starts...
Also, easy to dodge hooks when the game has: night, trees everywhere, and slow turning speeds? No other CC? http://www.dota2.com/hero/Pudge/ You mean his ultimate does not exist?
OK, what about Io then? His ultimate can take him and an yourself to the enemy fountain, killing you both. Look at Outworld Devourer, who can put an you into stasis so that the enemy team can catch and kill you. Look at Naga Siren, who can use her ultimate to shield the entire enemy team from your team's AoE spells, already cast. Look at Bloodseeker, who can silence you. Look at Pugna, who can cause you to take more magic damage, or can disable your ability to autoattack. That is not fun.
And I don't think I need to state that this is my opinion.

HoN sucks(not the gameplay, it was all right), in that it has a lot of rude gamers. My first game players told me to go kill myself. LoL was friendlier. Is DoTA 2 out yet.

What is the business model?
its a valve game, there is no business model behind it
But i pretty much no-life LoL. mainly cuz it is a game i got hooked on, and now i play it a lot. i mean, yea the community is shit, especially at any ranked 5 ladder. but it is not that bad in reality, all you have to do is focus on your own game play. so yea. once you get your own mechanics tuned you will do fine and no need to worry about haters. I have played Dota 2, but i really didn't like them, mainly cuz you have all the heros, unlike in LoL where you have to earn them(IP) or if your rich(RP)

I find LoL to be the most fun and easy to get into. The community does suck, due to the high investment of time one puts into each game, but the game tries to match you up with people around the same skill level as you. In DotA2, I've been paired with people way above me and I felt inadequate as fuck.
Awesomenauts wasn't that fun to me and I've only heard bad things about HoN.

Starcraft 2
That game is most definitely not a MOBA, the only MOBA elements it had were in the Heart of the Swarm campaign.

I was mistaken. Thanks for the needless correction though.
