Hiya! I was just wondering how many people out there had family members on the autistic spectrum. I have a brother who is one year older than me and is high up on the spectrum for Autism. I just wanted to know if anyone else had a sibling or a parent or anybody with the condition and how it impacts on your life :) just cuz sometimes I feel we are kinda overlooked and it would be nice to hear some of your experiences, how you differ from other peoples families, funny stories etc.

I don't have anyone with autism in my family and as far as I know I don't even know anyone with autism.

My bro has Aspergers, he's 20. He's really confident and clever though, because my mom really supported him.

You actually might know someone without realising it :) because its a spectrum disorder, there could be someone who is low on the spectrum so is high functioning. They might just seem a bit like an odd person :) I've met people in the past like this and they live pretty normal lives. I even recognise autism in some people that I know or see on TV, but I don't say anything normally because I could be wrong.

That's great. My moms amazing as well I don't know how she did it! My brother used to run away, throw tantrums, eat stuff from outside but he's really come on and developed a lot more than people thought he would be able to (even me) Your brother still in education?

No. That'd be really tough, it's great nobody in my family does.

Wow that was extremely insensitive. But on topic: I do not believe I know anyone high up on the autism spectrum to be recognized.

He's gone on to get an apprenticeship at an IT firm, I'm pretty proud of him
