Locker room communal showers

So at my local pool, we have this big open shower room which is connected to the locker room changing area, no doors of course. Everyone can pretty much see everything. So I'm 18 and I see some younger guys getting naked and showering, and I just feel its kinda weird because Im already fully developed, large penis, lots of pubes, everything. I just feel kinda wrong showering completely naked beside these preteen boys sometimes. What do you guys think? Do you think all guys of all ages should shower full nude in a group? Or should there be curtains?

It's not really that big of a deal in my opinion.. We do it all the time at our community pool and school. I totally see where you're coming from with wondering if its okay to be showering with boys who aren't as developed as you. But that's life and that's how it is. Be proud of what you have and wear it happily:)

I agree with both these guys. We all have the same stuff so theres really no big deal. Ive been in sports and lockerrooms since like age 6, and never felt uncomfortable around other dudes.

Exactly what they have said. You all have the same stuff so there shouldn't be any worries but it all comes down to personal preference. I'm use to it because I have done sports through the years and we had to use the locker room and showers. It's no big deal really.

I think it's completely normal for groups to shower together, I go to a sailing club and we get naked around each other all of the time and little kids of down to 7 get naked around me and I do around them, the more you do something the more comfortable with it you get so just go for it, I'm sure if there are other people they won't be surprised by you, they've probably seen their dads and stuff anyway, plus they won't really be paying attention to you anyway, they never do to me either!

I really don't see any issues with it, I mean it could be said that a 80 year old man would feel out of place if there were a lot of young people changing because everything isn't sagging.

And if it is an issue then you can just have a shower at home, I've never really got the whole communal shower, I mean they're very rare in Britain

Well come to Britain they are very rare here! I've seen four, one is for men and women so no nudity, the second is for men but as you leave it you go into the cubical area and the women can see you as it's not communal dressing, unless you're a team, and the other two are at sailing clubs in the male changing rooms so nudity is normal in those ones! Not sure about team changing rooms for football and stuff though

You guys are all guys! You all have the same thing. Pretty soon they will be fully developed anyways. I don't think it should really matter because all you are doing is taking a shower. They might peek just to see what it's like to be fully developed, but other then that just go take your shower.

It's normal to shower with other males. We are all males so it's not a big deal. We do it all the time in our gym locker room and it's not an issue for anybody. Even though if you don't feel comfortable doing this just return home and take a shower there.

A boarding house is where you live at school, this is at private schools, colleges and universities. It's just a building with a large group of students living in it and sometimes they have communal bathrooms with communal showers, sometimes they have en suites

In Iceland it is completely normal to undress and shower naked together, boys and men of all different ages. As an English tourist, it was a culture shock and surprising! Just about different cultures and what people are used to. I'd happily shower and change naked around guys younger and older, but not many people in my area use the communal bit.

I can understand how you might feel a bit awkward around younder undeveloped lads and you shouldn't do it if it's really making you uncomfortable. On the other hand, seeing an older boy who is now fully developed and at the end of puberty is probably good for them as they're finding out about it in a natural and safe situation.

Up until I was 14 I hated communal showers because I didn't want to expose myself but now I developed pretty quickly and tend to be packing more than most of my classmates so I don't mind. It might be a little awkward with little kids in the area but if anyone should feel uncomfortable it's them. If they were phased by seeing grown men shower in the same room as them, then they wouldn't be showering there.

I have played sport with people of all ages. I'm from England and if you don't mind showering with people older than you then why not younger people? You all have the same junk just people always have different shapes and sizes! I thought it was weird at first but if they don't care why should you? Embrace your better endowed self!

Nah just chill out and get on with it. At the end of the day it's a kinda rite of passage social experience more than a washing experience.
I was in a locker room when I was like 14. My mate was sitting on the bench drying his feet. An older guy casually came over and put his one foot on the bench. I'm not exaggerating - his bits were like 12 inches from my mates face. It was soooo funny when he looked up. We laughed so much about it afterwards.:)

Sorry dude but your comment is absolute rubbish. Who will decide who is entitled to enter the puberty boys shower? Will you have a pube inspection or what before you can go in...it's a crazy thought. Communal showers are usually noisy and are part of growing up. The younger you start getting in there and getting on with it, the more comfortable and natural it becomes.

I say, just ignore it. I mean, if you focus on that, then you're technically focusing on the sexualization of nudity, and doing that is almost like saying you're seeing sex in there. Nudity is not sex unless there's sex involved. It's like if someone gets a papercut. You're not just gonna go and say it was some kind of suicidal act that made them bleed everywhere and over-exaggerate it, right? Well, that's what the whole "nudity = sex" thing is. So, as long as you don't see their nudity in a sexual way, whether it be disturbing or attractive, you wont have any problems with it. It's just casual and stuff, like someone walking down the beach in swimming trunks.

That kind of reminds me of the situation in my family. My twin has to be watched while showering because otherwise he wouldn't clean himself well. The door is always open, and I've noticed his privates still haven't developed at all yet. My privates have been developing since maybe last year soo... I feel very uncomfortable around my bro when he's showering.

It's not that diverse, we're a high school team, 15-17, and there's an older guys' team, from 18 and up. But just a few of the older guys ask to use the shower room for us high schoolers, so they are welcome to do so. They, and some of us are usually the last ones there.

i figured out pretty quick about the no staring rule in showers. if someone looks too long just let them know, i'd be more worried about the creeper guys that hang out in showers
