Yeah, I'm sure everybody has seen this question pop up before. I would like to know what people think about this:
There is a girl that I quite like at school (We are both in Grade 12). We talk everyday at school about whatever, and we sit at the same table (not always next to each other) in a group of about 6-8 people (changes all the time). This group is mostly male, and she is pretty much the only female in the group.
I don't really know what she thinks about me cause she can be quite random about how she expresses herself. Sometimes she will playfully hit me in certain scenarios (I beat her at something :)), and sometimes she won't really say anything to me at all. I try to flirt with her sometimes by doing similar things to what she does (minus the hitting part :)), and she seems pretty comfortable when I do this. She does laugh at a lot of my jokes, but our table is full of jokers, so she laughs with basically everybody, so I can't really get any clear sign that she favors me over the group.
Things have changed a little bit recently. A little while ago, she asked me out to the prom/formal, but I was conflicted since another girl had asked me to go not too long before her request. I barely talked to the first girl that asked me to formal, so I went with my heart (for a change) and decided to go with the girl I liked.
Her asking me to formal makes me believe that she considers me the best of the group, but she still seems pretty neutral at times, so I don't know if she asked me because she had nobody else to ask or she genuinely liked me. There is also the fact that the first girl who asked me barely knew me, so it sorta feels like girls can ask guys to formal and not like them at all.
Anyway, after a small confidence boost from getting a "yes" to go to formal with her, I have considered going one step further and asking her out. I am incredibly shy at times, and have considered doing this by writing her a note and putting it in her locker. Is this ok? Perhaps more importantly, do you think she likes me?
The ultimate question: Should I ask her out? I'm considering telling her/giving her the letter tomorrow.
