I like both, bow ties are cool, regular ties just depend on what style; i prefer like a knitted type if its just a regular one and a plain patterned bow tie

I have to wear a shirt and tie every day for school - not bow tie obviously - it's just a plain black tie with the school logo on it. I like wearing shirt and tie though and think the whole school should have to wear the same not just seniors.

Ties are much classier than than bow ties. I have never experienced a person that pulled off a bow tie (though many have tried). I think they can look acceptable less than 3% of the time, but normal ties are the way to go- preferably solid or striped to look professional and gag/funny ones to be humorous (office parties, family parties).

I don't own any bow ties but I have a growing collection of ties. I collect Jerry Garcia ties because I love his art, and I love how they've carried his legacy on since his death.

I was in an original musical as the lead. Believe it or not I was playing a 12 year old boy that becomes the king (after his parents the king and queen die). For some reason the costume designer thought it was a clever idea to put me in a white suit. You know that fancy white table cloth material? Some of that was in the suit, and there was a bow tie made out of that stuff. It was hilarious and the bow tie was my favorite part.
Somehow after the first two shows a lipstick kiss ended up on my shoulder, to this day we have no idea how it got there (performed in June).
Moral of the story, bow ties all the way.

I like them both but it depends on occasion where you are going to wear them. As we can't go to the office with a bow tie. It looks a bit awkward. But if you are asking to make a choice among them. Then I will prefer plane tie with a little texture style on it or some thin lining.
