Due to the fact I think could turn more into a debate and it doesn't really fit into puberty  Ramblings of The Wise.

internet censorship at the government level? Sounds like china's screwed up system.
Let people look at whatever they wanna look at.
And seriously, sex is the most natural human instinct, and curiosity is needed for a good development in my opinion.

Pornography's been banned in the United States at various times; I'm not certain about it's current status, though it might vary from state to state. I agree with the ban; pornography is generally detrimental to society.

I can see what they're trying to achieve. Pornography has often shown to have an impact on people's mindsets as it reduces the person in the picture to an object. However, out of the millions of people who view porn the ones who allow it to affect their social interactions are very small and Cameron has effectively punished the many to protect the few.

Porn is a very pleasurable thing that people indulge in and, fair enough, they can apply to be exempt from the ban by applying to the ISP, but why should they have to? It's still censorship.

Lastly, they may have good intentions but porn can be very helpful to budding teens who are only starting to learn about their sexuality. I certainly utilized it while teaching myself about masturbation and sexual pleasure.

I can't see how it affects anyone to the extent that it should be banned.

I wasn't addressing the OP

Then who were you addressing when you said, "Let's get the facts straight" because if you ask me, that's addressing someone getting the wrong idea of a situation.

Please stop with the fighting and keep this thread on topic. I have already needed to delete unnecessary posts, and there's no reason for that.

Otherwise warnings and infractions will certainly be given.

I personally think it's a good thing, I mean, porn in general can sometimes start to make people think that women are sex objects and will do it with any guy if they say so. I've always thought that it takes away from the aspects of a caring and gentle relationship between two people, replacing it with just pleasure and no emotional bonds.
Just me, since I find it disgusting, but I think things like that should be left to people's mind where they can imagine whatever the Heck they want and people in a caring relationship.

Shouldn't be able to censor the internet unless its child porn or something like that. These different parental groups act like kids are never going to see a boob or dick in life,

People should be able to watch it. I don't see any harm with people watching it.

"Oh goodness, you mean people can film sex? How crude! We better ban it!"

It's wrong. People should be able to watch whatever they want to watch without interference from the government as long as it doesn't break any laws.

Don't you think that an individual should have the opportunity to use their self control and understanding to decide how they would like to use pornography? Whether they see it as art, a sex object, or just a form of cheap entertainment, it should be up to the viewer to decide how they wish to perceive pornography.

I think the fact that they're trying to prohibit pornography to everyone is a little ridiculous. There are already various forms for parents to monitor what their kids are viewing on the internet. Why does the government need to interfere with that? If a person is the required age to view pornography, then they should have the option to. We don't need "big brother" watching over us. People should be capable of being responsible with their internet usage.

What happens when the government monitors everything for the people, so that we no longer need to make wise decisions on our own? The whole internet monitoring thing just seems counterproductive to me. Now there's just going to be more underground variants to finding pornography, which will in turn lead to criminal investigations (provided porno becomes totally illegal) and the government will end up just wasting their own money.

I think I'm going to scrap the idea of moving to the U.K :P

But seriously, I do think it's a mistake. It's not fair to restrict what people want to watch. If kids end up watching it, well I say blame that on their parents, not the Pornos. They're doing everything legally. They shouldn't pay just because someone thought that it will "corrupt the youth" or some bullshit like that. Besides, teenagers will find a way to satisfy their hormonal urges, whether it be on the internet, a magazine, or that lovely lady down the corner swimming in her pool :D

I've been watching porn since I was like 10, I sure got horny to it and jack off a lot when I watch it, but I dont take girls for objects, I know the difference between a movie and reality.

Just want to say-it's not a porn ban.

The internet provider will ask if you want adult material available, if you say yes then you can access porn, if you don't want your children to have access then you ask for it too not be allowed. This isn't a ban on porn, but a way of limiting the access to children.

But now everyone will just go back to getting magazines

I think it could be a good idea, because it could be used to protect young kids because I've had mates who's little siblings have been on porn websites and FREAKED OUT, and you will (apparently) be able to get it on your computer if you clear it, which is all well and good if you're an adult, but, let's face it, a lot of people on porn websites aren't. So I guess we're the generation who's innocence has already been ruined, but I guess it will make trips abroad a little more *ahem entertaining. It still SUCKS though

Here's an idea. Tell your kids at age 12-13 ish about porn and sex and puberty and what Teenage years will be like so that they can make their own decisions about what websites to go to.
Never occurred to anyone?

Porn should be regulated, for example child pornography/rape videos should be taken off the internet. I have nothing against other kinds of porn being on the internet.

I hope they aren't doing this to make children less exposed to such things. Anyway, it's just going to force people to use proxies and it's not going to get rid of it. Especially knowing how effective "safe search" is.
